Not really, he would have been 28 when they released their first album, although by today's standards that's positively past it!

They first came to light in the late 70's and, I suppose, helped pave the way for the likes of Sex Pistols.
They're all dying just at a time when their thing is undergoing a revival.
The Strokes and Interpol borrow heavily from that scene, New York Dolls have reformed (albeit without Johnny Thunders) and all these yank punksters like Sum41 and Green Day would have been nowhere without them.
