It does seem a bit of a weird choice.

I was hoping they'd go for a younger, more dynamic, possibly African guy. I wanted some life put back into the whole church, someone to really get out there and spread some 'good news' like they are actually happy about how good it is.

hmm as someone say... yeah i guess church doesnt represent God at all.... i guess he/she would fire all these ppl! for killing using his/her name... (among other atrocities)

Well what we can expect... church as all other instititions are leaded by men, and we all are unpecfect to no much of a surprise that these institition are rotten... even though there might be lots of priests that do it well and help in their comunities, the institition itself had made way too made mistakes through history...
