I can't believe that Steve Bruce and David Sullivan are having a go at the Birmingham fans for not wanting Lee Bowyer to sign for them. Sullivans arguement seemed to be that cos he was found not guilty in that trial with Woodgate, Bowyer is a fine, upstanding member of society. Even on a pure footballing level the signing would have been a bad one, Bowyer hasn't played a decent game in the past 3 years and his only memorable contribution at Newcastle was fighting with his own team mate. We nearly paid 9 million for him a couple of years ago - Houlliers best bit of business was pulling out of that deal. |

The FOOTBALL thread was coming dangerously close to slipping off the first page of the message board and we can't have that can we.
Looks like Gerrard really is leaving Liverpool this time, his agent has said that contract negotiations have broken down and are unlikely to restart. If we get 30 million then I won't be too bothered. We can get 3 or 4 quality players for that and as long as Rafa goes for Alonso quality players and not Pellogrino style ones then I think we'll be a better team overall. Plus we can give the 80k a week we'll save in wages to me while i haven't got a job. We're really not a one man team, although you wouldn't know it by reading the papers today.
Spent a happy afternoon watching our goals of the season DVD yesterday, I think I've under rated Garcia a bit, he scored some blinding goals. I hadn't seen that one Spurs scored against us at Anfield before, it must have been from 50 yards out, an incredible goal.
Adam, Martin, Dave - are any of you going to that European Cup celebration dinner thing at Anfield in a couple of weeks? |

i've heard nothing about it at all, so that's probably a no.
i'm just sick of the whole gerrard thing. sack your agent, sign the contract and shut up or just go. either way is fine by me. |

Just had a look at the email i got about it, some of the highlights of the evening include:
* Champagne Reception in European Suite, reliving the memories of Liverpool's European glory
* 4 Course Heathcotes at Anfield Dinner served in the Champions Suite
* Commemorative photograph for all tables with the Champions League Trophy
* The chance to eat your own body weight's worth of chick peas. |

don't they have a special visitor rate for MU fans to come see the trophy MU won in 1999? I hope it's been given a good clean since. |

sounds like a pile of corporate horseshit. liverpool lead the way on that score. others might do it bigger but we did it first.

so there are millions of rumours about who villa are going to sign next and there is word that milan baros will be joining us. Not sure about that one myself. He didn;t seem that good last year. I want Craig Bellamy personally. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

do you think so? i know we were the first to get shirt sponsorship, but i always felt we were well behind the likes of spurs and united in the corporate stakes in the early 80s. though maybe that's just wishful childhood recollection on my part. it did take a while to get those horrible corporate boxes, though. caught up on all that now and everything's for sale. |

What's the thoughts on the zenden signing? I don't like him myself though i do carry an incurable loathing for middlesbrough. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

don't really know. not keen on boro either, but he's free so it can't be too bad a signing. if it doesn't work out hopefully we can ship him out for a fee next year.
and apparently boro are trying to buy salif diao, which would have to be a good swap, especially if they pay money for him.
nasty bastards can be good on the pitch, but bad-attitude wasters aren't good news. is bellamy still "happy" to stay at newcastle, so he gets his loyalty bonus when they sell him? |

i can't remember bellamy causing too much trouble before souness arrived. He's always been arrogant but not a trouble maker. Kieron Dyer was a complete twat to Robson but souness seems to love him so i don't know. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army
