If you want to partake in much of the football thread banter I suggest you go for the reds of Liverpool
If you must go premiership then, i'll say Aston Villa too cos i've got a mad Villa lad looking over my shoulder and he's told me to say that.
Personally, be different, go green and pick the mighty PLYMOUTH ARGYLE of the championship. If you can be retrospective we've won 2 lower division titles in the last 3 years, and yes, that did involve silverware, open top bus rides and civic receptions. Our shirts are a lovely dark green, we're sponsered by a company that makes pasties and most importantly as we're just past 4 July, Plymouth was the departure point for the Pilgrim Fathers (our nickname is The Pilgrims and we have a cool badge depicting the Mayflower).
What are you waiting for, join the Green Army..... |

if you've already got liverpool, arsenal and chelsea covered and hate man utd too much, there really isn't anyone else with more than an outside chance of winning anything except maybe the odd league cup, sad to say.
chelsea will probably win enough to share between 2 kids unless abramovic pulls the plug on them. |

The Plymouth argument is surely the funniest...and the web site is touting kids dressed as clowns. Although I'm scared of clowns (and ventriloquist dummies...in case you were wondering) it's still a testiment to those "zany" pilgrims.
Only problems is, being in the states, we will NEVER see a game. Nationwide league barely gets covered in the UK...Villa would get coverage.
I'm still open... and when the little one shows the first signs of wackiness I'm calling the club shop and ordering a pilgrims jersey. Seems to go together.
Keep 'em coming |

pick Glasgow Celtic FC
they're still a British Premier League team, and they win lots, and they have the best fans after Liverpool's

I used to live in Glasgow...you are correct. the best fans ever. But we can't see celtic games over here...an occasional old firm but you have to pay $20 to watch. We get all the english premier games....is Villa on the lead? |

Not only that but my season ticket has a picture of said clowns on every match day ticket. I agree, scary!
Try http://www.greensonscreen.co.uk for a great fansite with loads of great photos of the mighty PAFC. Might be more clowns in evidence though.
I would like to add for the benefit of the bc board that I have never dressed as an Argyle clown at any time.
I would also like to add that Aston Villa, Liverpool, Celtic, Juventus and every any other top flight side (except maybe Wigan) have more than enough of a global fanbase. And that your team can go down as well as up.... (except maybe Liverpool, Celtic, Juventus). You can never tell about the Villa.

How can you not support a club that puts it's fans vacation photos on a website. For a club so connected to clowns it's an amazingly Un-smiling bunch. Your on holiday, for christ sakes....have a good time.
So you say that the clowns are on the season tix??? This is getting too good. "Villa don't have clowns"...

If you want a further reason squad number 12 is registered to the football league as 'Green Army' so if fans want their names on their replica jerseys they can put it with a 12.
Club programmes across England and Wales (mustn't forget Cardiff) therefore list 'Green Army 12' along side that of the players. They don't list individual names though, it would be too long!
Trying to make you lean further... |

First, I must apologize for the appallingly bad writing in the last post ()your not you're...pitiful). Now....
Is Plymouth just a goofy city or what? This is endearing. Kind of like "the Loonies". I went on the site to see the toddler kit (a definite buying sign) and saw that for 35 pound you get great seats to the Belgrade match, a curry and a pint, halftime refreshments, elcusive bar priviledges (?) AND a guest speaker. I'm bettin' it's a ventriloquist. Maybe even a mime. Wow. Nutty.
Leaning...and you are the only one that seems to really like your team (I take it you are a fan).
When the two year old gets older (incidentally...her name is Campbell) she will get a kick out of these decisions. I printing them all off.
Can wait until we try to pick the official onsie band of the new one coming in August (this will be child five). Campbell's first onsie had Fugazi on it... |

Well i can't add to the plymouth arguments but, heck, i'll try
to add to the number 12 we also had a number 90 shirt 2 years ago. It was given to Argyles no1 celebrity fan Michael Foot. A former leader of the labour party who was always public about his love of the team even in the days when all about a dozen mp's wouldn't touch football with a barge pole. And he used to turn down comps to stand with the masses, even queing too. So he was loved and got the honour and the club took delight in registering him with the League as a "Left Winger" (geddit?!). Sadly he never played!
and then there's the distances the fans travel. Sure they are nothing compared to USA miles but there's some of us who've got up at 5am to travel over 400 miles to Newcastle, get there at midday have the game called off.... and then go for the re-match on a midweek, get home at 6.30am and then go to work an hour later - you'll be pleased to know we lost 3-1 and as we scored after sixty seconds there were some who went all that way TWICE and missed our goal 'cos they needed just one more pint before kick-off. And they still laugh about it now.
And the fact we advertise fattening pasties in days of pasta diets and oh so healthy footballers is a little flicking of the v's to the healthkicks me reckons....
and f-h may never have dressed as a clown but i'm sure he dressed up as a charachter from vic n bobs show at an away game in the early 90s ... I did, I went as Les armed with celery to make me smile!!! |
