Mmmmm, things haven't gone that well this summer have they, usually we do things behind the scenes and get the players we want but this time it all appears to have gone a bit wrong.
If Harry Kewell sorts himself out then that would almost be like a new signing. I'd kinda forgotten about him until he was put the squad for the game on Friday, if he can get fit and be great again that would solve loads of problems. Especially if he could grow a couple of inches and learn to play at centre back as well. |

i didn't notice kewell was in the squad on friday, that's good. i have some faith in him (well his ability if not motivation etc), based on his decent sub's appearance at highbury last season and impressive performances for me in football manager 2005.
zenden hasn't really done much, and looked exceedingly tubby in a white warm up t-shirt before the sunderland game. i still think left midfield is riise's best position. maybe we could get a surgeon to swap his legs over, to convert him into a right footer.
problems solved. kewell as taller centre back. riise as surgically-enhanced right winger. excellent. |

On an unrelated note i've been reading a book about liverpool during the 80's today and Graeme Souness sounded amazing in it, i was too young to remember him playing for Liverpool. Its hard to reconcile the tales of him being a brilliant captain and player for us with the bloke who I remember signing Paul Stewart and numerous others during the 90's.
Salif Diao has gone to Pompey on loan so its not all bad news on the transfer front. |

Who's Salif Diao? I'm getting confused with all the African-born players that Liverpool have signed lately...
How much did Liverpool pay for the Spitting Senegalian
(a.k.a. El Hadji Diouf)
a few years ago? The worst player signing for Liverpool ever? _________________

Salif Diao was the midfielder we signed at the same time as Diouf, lacked pace, passing ability and is possibly the worse tackler i've ever seen. Apart from that he's ace.
We paid £10 million for Diouf i think, we could have got 20 Neil Shipperleys for that. In fact one Neil Shipperley would probably have done a better job. |

Its called '3 Sides of The Mersey', its about Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere, it came out years ago, i just got it out of the library cos i fancied something easy to read. Its purely made up of quotes from interviews with players and fans. Its all the usual stuff about Paisley and Shankley, i could read that sort of thing forever and probably will do.
I also read Paul Tomkins book about last season a couple of weeks ago, thats worth reading if you get a chance.

i didn't realise that Garcia had played for Rafa before when he was at Tenerife. |

Andorra 0 - 0 Finland
OH YES YOU HEARD IT RIGHT.
ANDORRA
0 - 0
FINLAND
90 minutes of pain.
Can't score a single fucking goal against Andorra.
ANDORRA.
No offense to any of the Andorran members on the board (yeah, right... ), but what the fuck? Don't know whether I should laugh or cry. I barely even know where Andorra is. I've never heard of any of their players or their clubs.
And I'm a Championship Manager veteran!
The referee was a bit crap, ok, and the Andorrans spent every possible moment lying on the ground and wasting time, but they're just excuses - Finland were
absolutely shit
.
90 minutes and I've lost all hope in Finnish football.
If we can't win Andorra then we don't deserve to play in the World Cup finals for 100 years.
See you all in year 2105. _________________

Wa-hay!
We are surely the world beating minnows after that result.
First we beat Macedonia, and now a draw against the mighty Finns.
Bring on England next.
See you in a World Cup before 2015, Tommy....
Seriously, Andorra are just about the worst team from Europe in the FIFA rankings (mind you who understands them?) apart from San Marino. That's a poor, poor result.
And, Tommy, as I've had a joke at your expense, you're more than welcome to mock Plymouth Argyle in return. BOBBY OUT!

Can't have a dig at the mighty Argyle since they play in the Championship and Barnsley are stuck in League One! And I hope Plymouth stay up anyway...!
The best Andorran club team, FC Andorra, play in the Spanish 3rd Division, I believe... Yesterday's match was the worst game of football that I've
ever
seen, and with that performance we wouldn't have been able to beat the Vatican football team!

There's no easy games in international football Tommy, but you've really got to be beating Andorra.
Apparently England are going to bid for the 2018 World Cup which would be great, however I'll be 42 then which will be a bit depressing. |

so after a few emails sent back and forth aston villa have agreed to exchange my solano shirt. I am quite excited by out transfer window activity and will now boldly state that aston villa will qualify for europe this year. I don't know a whole lot about bouma but he sounds pretty good and i think milner could be a good acquisition to go along with baros' goals. The good times may be coming back. I look forward to getting my new villa shirt with #10 BAROS on the back. c'mon. _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

And now he is. First sacking of the season. Eight months too late (he should never have survived the West Ham debacle) and the only downer is that Jocky Scott takes over on a temporary basis. Bob was better at PR than he was given credit for, could spot a talented player but he couldn't put a side together for love nor money and the fact we've a long winter ahead is more down to him a lack of the financial clout of about a dozen sides in our division.
With Norwich injury and suspension hit perhaps we are gonna turn it on for the nations cameras on Saturday lunchtime. Yes our longest journey of the season is a nice lunchtime kick-off so thank heck i've got 120miles less to travel than them people still lucky enough to be livin' in the West. |
