Sounded a good game on the commentary - if we don't make the play offs it will be down to finishing. We have no proper strikers. We have 17 draws this season, nine of them 0-0s!
You guys will finish either 12th or 13th and I will be anybody £1,000 cash on that right now. With the optimisim and financial security that will follow the purchase of your ground from the council you can build on that next year and hopefully challenge for a play-off spot.
Quote of the night from our commentator:
"And here's Micky Evans - turning circle of a traction engine and...finally he gets the shot in which is easily saved." |
I do like Nugent though and i'd gladly have any of your forwards in our side. Is the finishing normally that eratic? I think only Leeds have created as many chances against us since Pulis took charge.
Owning the ground will be good for the club but as I suspect the council will only part with it against some very restrictive development conditions I'm not sure how much worth they'll get out of it. But assuming we can release some cash for Pulis then I think we'll take some leap forwards next season. On our website he cites PNE as a good example for us to follow and given the similar level of support I can see his point.
As for Evans, heck larfed my head off when Souness paid £750k for him all those years back but, to be fair, he's been a revalation since he returned but I think his days are nearly up... Traction engine is about right! |

As a unit we're probably as good as anyone, but we've only scored four more goals than Crewe this season, and if we'd have been even just reasonably clinical in front of goal we would be in with a great chance of second spot - we'd be above Leeds and Watford for sure.
But you can't have everything, and when I think of some of the Preston v Plymouth games I've seen over the years I guess we would both be happy with the way things have ended up - so many clubs have gone the other way! |

seriously though, a question for you all who know liverpool better than i do: do you think hyypiä is still good enough for liverpool and will he play regularly after this, or should he start finding another club? |
I reckon Hyppia will definitely be there for at least one more season, although if he's any good then Agger will probably start ahead of him next year. It's not as though Sami has any more pace to lose and him and Carragher work well together.
It's odd how things change in football, I didn't really think we'd win the European Cup up until about 10 minutes after Dudek saved the last penalty in Istanbul but this year it didn't even cross my mind that we wouldn't beat Benfica until they were rude enough to score against us at Anfield.
I've just heard on the TV that in one of the papers today Steven Gerrard is saying that should definitely go after Owen in the summer. This might be the case but it would be nice to have a summer where our transfer policy wasn't dictated by the wishes of Stevie G. |
