Stange evening. I was in me sunday slacks nursing a nice mug of tea when, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, I receieved a call, "Where the hell are ya?!" I'd completely forgotten about this one but within 30mins i'm at the bar talking to a bloke who used to work for the USSR MoD who's admitting to stealing lots of british ideas 'cos his knowledge of English enabled him to translate manuals into Soviet military technology and though well as he did under the USSR admits to preferring living in these "free" times. Despite death threats from the mafia when selling vodka and now working for - oh its that westernised now! - a credit company. Yes really. Its top stuff and in a welcome change for talkin' footie and pearl button shirts the conversations veers between disagreements on Viktor Yushchenko through to agreements on Alexander Lukashenko.

Our new found Soviet friend doesn't seem to care much for the Organ though. He prefers Led Zepplin and is struggling to comprehend that there is so little love for Uriah Heep in the audience. The rest of us are more than happy though, we're sent head over heels by a band who combine Martha & the Muffins, Joy Division, the Cure, the keyboard skills of Clint Boon and the vocals of Debbie Harry into one tremendous, heart warming gig. Truly Radio 4 remain the greatest act i've seen at this venue but even compared to the likes of the Libertines to the Vines through to the criminally neglected Brave Captain and Campag Velocet, the Organ are of exceptional Louisana quality and for only the second time this millenia I buy a band t-shirt.

Love 'em or give up on record buying.
