I can't work out if you meant your local spa, if you're calling him a spa, or I'm just thick and don't understand |

Dammit, we were playing but then couldn't due to a problem with 'other pre-arranged band commitments'. I was really looking forward to it too, I hope Huw will have us come play another time and doesn't now hate us for having to cancel...
Would have been good to say hello too of course!

Good work Mark, I spent all last weekend doing battle with various flight websites trying to sort out a trip to South by Southwest. how can a return flight to houston cost £420 while a single flight costs £510? Bizarre. If I get it sorted this weekend I'll let you know. Do you know anything about the festival? Apparently it's like a bigger version of the Camden Crawl but sunnier. |

I don't know much, but as far as I can tell it's one of the most 'important' international music events (they call it a 'conference'!) for new music and kinda (and I know this sounds really industry and terrible) meeting people and getting people to hear of your band more... definitely a good tactical move for a band trying to get more well known! Plus, it's a trip to America! So will ba amazing fun, and we'll probably play in LA and NYC too while we're out there... that's if we can get funding (need work visas and everything like that, thousands of pounds!)

Excellent! Don't know about Dot to Dot, I don't know that they've booked all the bands yet for it. We're starting to properly sort out festivals at the moment really for summer.
We are going to SXSW though... if we can ever get the visas! It's so unbelievably hard to sort out, loads of money and every band member needs to go to some place in London for a personal interview!

I went to see Fanfarlo and Sleeping States last night. Fanfarlo were full of lovely top trumpety pop goodness and Sleeping States were ace and moody during songs, like Slint, and cheerful between songs. This is to be encouraged Bands who don't make any effort to acknowledge the audience between songs should have their licence to rock revoked.

A top line up. Very very good in front of a decent crowd at the Louis. Sleeping States had great gadget stuff and reminded me a bit of the Wisdom of Harry. Which is very good. Fanfarlo - well I enjoyed seeing them at the Louis last year, but last night, yeah yeah yeah. Really excellent. Seemed to have pushed on further, very strong set, really good melodies and lovely instrumental hooks. Great swapping of instruments similar to Strange Death of Liberal England (musically) and Kyte (loveliness of the sounds such as the xylophone). Really hope that you'll play there again though, tbh, I'll be amazed if yer not playing at least Thekla next time you come to town. _________________ Britain... It's not that Great! |

I like the swapping of instruments thing, it's total football-esque and Johan Cruyff would surely approve. |
