Turkey 3 - 2 Czech Republic
0-1 Koller - 34 mins.
0-2 Plasil - 62 mins.
1-2 Turan - 75 mins.
2-2 Nihat - 87 mins.
2-3 Nihat - 89 mins.
So typical. I could only watch the first half of the game last night, the first half was nothing special so I wasn't too bothered... but then it turns out that I missed probably the best second half of the tournament so far.
I can't believe that Czech Rep managed to throw away a two-goal lead. I was hoping that they would do well in this tournament, but Turkey have been a positive surprise too.
Hopefully at least Croatia can beat Poland tonight.

Switzerland 2 - 0 Portugal
1-0 Yakin - 71 mins.
2-0 Yakin (pen) - 83 mins.
If this game had actually meant something, it would have been a bit of a shocker. Nice win for Switzerland though.

Austria 0 - 1 Germany
0-1 Ballack - 49 mins.
My dad said that it was a boring game.
Nice freekick by Ballack.

Poland 0 - 1 Croatia
0-1 Klasnic - 52 mins.
I watched this game instead. I didn't realise until half-time that Croatia were already through, so I wish I had just gone to bed instead.
A deserved win for Croatia though, and a well taken goal by Klasnic. Poland were very disappointing throughout the tournament, Croatia weren't very good tonight either, but then again they had nothing to play for. I hope they'll improve.
Germany will face Portugal in the quarter finals, Croatia will play against Turkey.

Portugal had a good goal ruled out for offside and Switzerland's penalty was a joke, although Cristiano would have been impressed by the dive

I was looking out for you to say that Jarolim for the Czechs was the Danny Murphy lookalike of the day

Holland 2 - 0 Romania
1-0 Huntelaar - 54 mins.
2-0 Van Persie - 87 mins.
Poor Romania.
I didn't see this game, not even the highlights (yet). I watched the other game instead until the 2-0 goal and then went to bed.

That photo should be enough.
What on earth was Abidal doing there? And why was he playing central defender anyway? He was constantly in trouble with Luca Toni, and then he gifts a penalty for Italy
and
gets sent off. Oh dear.
France were totally lost after that, Italy could have easily scored two or three more before half time. France had one of the best squads in the tournament but Domenech failed with his passive tactics.

right...
If you listen to the commentator on ITV for this Sweden game, you'd swear Russia has a player call Jerkoff

Russia 2 - 0 Sweden
1-0 Pavlyuchenko - 24 mins.
2-0 Arshavin - 50 mins.
Another contender for the Best Game of the Tournament award! It was an excellent match indeed, Russia played very beautiful football at times, and Sweden had their chances too, but to be fair Russia really deserved to win.
Russia had to win this game to qualify for the quarter finals, and you could see that right from the kick off. Sweden started with very defensive tactics again, which probably cost them the game, Russians were all over them for the first 24 minutes, creating chance after chance, until Pavlyuchenko finally scored the opening goal.
Sweden got back into the game for a while after that when Russians started playing more carefully, but Larsson and Ibrahimovic couldn't find each other. Ljungberg was Sweden's best player last night, he was the only one with a bit of imagination, so he managed to create a couple of decent chances for his team. Ibrahimovic was a huge disappointment, perhaps he still wasn't fully fit, but his performance was poor.
The Russians were the better team on the second half as well. Sweden were forced to attack, they had to score at least one goal, but Russia dominated the midfield, and often broke on quick and dangerous counter-attacks... only good luck, goalposts, and Isaksson's good saves kept Sweden in the game.
It was obvious that Sweden's good luck couldn't last forever, and on the 50th minute of the game Russians broke on yet another counter-attack from the left wing... Arshavin passed a great through ball to Zhirkov (see discoRdance's post above for the pronunciation ) who passed it back to Arshavin who had somehow already got inside the penalty area, and Arshavin slid the ball from full pace beyond helpless Isaksson. One of the best goals of the tournament for sure!
Sweden didn't give up (until the ~80th minute of the game) but their chances were few and not very dangerous. Russia could/should have scored loads more from similar counter-attacks, but 2-0 was enough for them to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Man of the Match
: Andrei Arshavin. This was his first match of the tournament (he was sent off in the last qualifier match against Andorra, and was therefore banned for the first two games of Euro 2008) and it was easy to see that Russia have been missing him so far. His work-rate, pace and passing were superb, this chap was just so much better than everyone else on the pitch last night.

So, the group stage is over, here are my thoughts about the tournament so far and some predictions.
The "group of death" (Holland, Italy, France, Romania) turned out to be the weakest group of the tournament. Italy and France were pathetic, France are already out and I hope that Italy's tournament ends on Sunday. Holland have been a pleasant surprise, but I think they'll be in trouble against Russia.
I quite enjoyed watching Greece win the Euro 2004, back then it was such a big shocker and they played so well as a team, but they were even more defensive and boring this year.
Sweden were a small disappointment too, I didn't expect them to qualify for the next round, but I did expect them to be a bit more attacking. Sweden vs Greece must be the worst game that I've seen for years.
Spain were quite impressive, I think they'll do well this year, and Russia became my other favourite team in Euro 2008 last night.
Germany have been quite poor so far as well, but they always improve when the important games begin. Podolski is one of my favourite players in Euro 2008, I hope he'll be fully fit for Germany's next game.
I've been supporting Croatia in this tournament, and as strange as it may sound, they've been a small disappointment despite of winning their group! I was expecting them to play more entertaining football, but they've been a bit boring so far.
Austria were better than everyone expected, but clearly not good enough to beat the better teams. Poland were boring.
I missed most of the games in Group A (Portugal, Turkey, Czech Rep, Switzerland), Turkey were a positive surprise even though it was sad to see Czech Republic getting knocked out so early. I didn't see any games by Portugal, but I suppose they're one of the favourites to win the tournament... I hope they'll get knocked out by Germany tonight though.
Switzerland and Czech Rep both could have qualified, but they both had too much trouble with scoring, Turkey were much better at finishing and deserved their place in the quarter finals.
The standard of football has been okay so far, but one thing that bothers me a bit is that there haven't been too many "YESSS!" moments so far. I'm quite neutral towards most teams in Euro 2008, but usually there has been at least one player that I don't like in some of them, and I've enjoyed seeing them get sent off or crying after their team has lost a match. But I'm sure there'll be more drama now that the knockout games have begun...
