Congratulations for Plymouth for a brilliant victory! Did anyone of us see the game?? Turner out?
Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 3 Plymouth Argyle
0-1 David Friio 22
0-2 Paul Wotton 62 (pen)
0-3 David Friio 64
1-3 Michael Reddy 84
UEFA Champions League:
Group E:
An undeserved victory for ManUre at Ibrox. Phil Neville's early goal was really easy and Rangers controlled most of the game after that. Paolo Vanoli had two really good chances to score, and Lovenkrands was really unlucky two or three times... He really needs some shooting practice though! Anders Frisk, the referee, made some really unbelievable decisions a couple of times as well, usually in ManUre's favour, unfortunately.
Glasgow Rangers 0 - 1 Manchester United
0-1 Phil Neville 5
In the other Group E match the German side VFB Stuttgart their good run in the Champions League... Stuttgart could be this years big surprise!
VFB Stuttgart 2 - 0 Panathinaikos
1-0 Imre Szabics 12
2-0 Zvonimir Soldo 25
Group F
wasn't very surprising - FC Porto took the important away points against Marseille, 2-3 for the Portuguese team.
Real Madrid won 1-0 against Partizan Belgrade, Raul scoring the only goal of the match on 38th minute.
In
Group G
, Chelsea stole all three points with a good show on the second half, while Sparta Prague won Besiktas 2-1.
Chelsea 2 -1 Lazio
0-1 Simone Inzaghi 39
1-1 Frank Lampard 57
2-1 Adrian Mutu 65
Group H
: The biggest surprise tonight happened at San Siro. Club Brugge from Belgium took all three points back home from the Italians (AC Milan). Andres Mendoza scored the only goal of the match on 33th minute. Ajax Amsterdam won Celta De Vigo also with one goal, only goal was scored by Zlatan Ibrahimovich on 53th minute. _________________

Barnsley have been in administration for 387 days now, since 3rd October 2002. There was supposed to be an official announcement today about the deal that finally gives the club for the new owners, but there wasn't... There was nothing at all. So we're still in administration. They've been saying "next week" or "in the next couple of days" for more than a year now! I believe they're going to make the deal sooner or later, but what's the point of all the lies and secrecy? _________________

BARNSLEY TAKEOVER COMPLETED!!!
5:27AM
this morning: The takeover deal was finalised!! And it's
official!
Now the nightmare is finally over, after
388 days
! Thank you
Patrick Cryne
and
Peter Ridsdale
, the club is finally safe. We will be out of administration in the next couple of days, and everything will be alright forever!
This is the dawn of a whole new era at Barnsley Football Club, may it be a long and a glorious one! I'm proud of the fans who supported and followed our club during the dark times, I hope that we never ever have to go through this again.
Today is the most important day of the history of Barnsley FC. This is better than our promotion to Premier League in 1996, better than the playoff final at Wembley in 2000, better than winning the FA Cup in 1912 (I wasn't there though:roll:), better than anything ever before. I'd better stop writing this now before I start crying.
The Tykes are back at last!
Last time I heard this song at the Oakwell. half-time of the match against Norwich. That was the match when we got relegated to Division Two. Now I'm listening to it again and you can't imagine what it means to me!
You'll never walk alone
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Yes I did thank u v much Tommy Boo. What a beautiful night out in south yorkshire (or derbyshire as my mates from leeds like to call it, how i love regional rivallries!). We were superb for the first 80mins and then hang on a bit at the end. Our support was fantastic - about 2500 apparently which is a lot for a Wed evening - and was so vocal even the following days Yorkshire Post wrote about it (even mentioned how the chant of one neil warnock woke the wednesday fans up from their slumber). Think play-offs is still the best bet for us but Weds are certainly the best side we've played this season and I'm sure they'll pick up soon. Chris Turner was really nice with his praise of us and the fact that Blackpool played 10 defenders against us on Sat means we must be one of the better sides in the league now.
Well done on getting the takeover complete, still up in the right area and with a league as tight as this Barnsley must be good for the play-offs (atleast?!) |

Thanks Tommy TL!
Hey, that would be super cool, I hope that Plymouth and Barnsley can both keep their current form!
I'm afraid that Plymouth's manager gets the curse of Manager of the Month Award though... And if it's not your manager, it will be our Gudjon! _________________

I heard a rumour that Jani Viander, Finnish international goalkeeper (15 caps), is currently on trial in Plymouth. Could someone confirm that? _________________

Yeah u r right tommy boo - he played for our reserves in their 3-0 win at cardiff reserves this afternoon. our first choice keeper (larrieu) has been out for 2 months and is likely to be out for atleast another 4 months so Argyle have been looking for extra cover. we had the luxembourg international keeper on trial who was apparently excellent but due to fifas complicated transfer rules we were unable to sign him for the period we wanted to. |
