it seems the captain's expanded his array of hardware since the last time i saw him (round the corner at the spitz in august) as well as refining and building on some of the material i saw previewed there. and i have to say it was pretty bloody impressive stuff. highlights included a brilliant version of "down between", a song with the line "the same old people with the same old lies", a superb new "lazarus" and the last song (which started with some twat telling martin he only had five minutes left, at which point martin mockingly added a heavily effected "five minutes" into the song, which made me chuckle).
the new lazarus is beautiful, i couldn't help singing along with martin, whose voice was the best i've heard it at a gig so far. even better, after the gig BC bought me a drink! (presumably because i'm a doley boy and was saving my last three quid to buy him a drink, which he was thoroughly deserving of). so, all in all, what with the best set i've seen BC do, a great crowd in the form of martin and friends (cheers for the drinks and company guys!) and songs off the new album previewed, it was a truly amazing night.
who's wishing they could have made it now?

I must admit I didn't enjoy the set as much as you did, the second gig upstairs at the Garage suited me more, I prefer the sets when he sings more, to be honest.

What about the laptop act that preceded him? Sadly very dull visually though those Tardis landing noises were very atmospheric...
