| watched it live plymouth looked poor (must have been an off day) |
the first half was our shitest performance of the season. awful and with no idea on how to play. the 2nd half was a little, only a little, better. conditions didn't help us (wind stopped at half time) but thats no excuse. still it was my first trip to withdean and its the weirdest (and probably worst) ground i've watched a league game at.
just hope we bounce back this weekend |

| my first (and hopefully) last trip to the withdean too. poshest surroundings of any ground I've been (and a property section in the programme?), the locals seemed resentful of the ground being there at all. and what was with all that 'yes to falmer' business, was like being at a rally circa 1984. top marks for playing 'we gotta get out of this place' before kick off though |

Can't speak for all the band, but Boff from the Chumbas is a massive *spits* Burnley fan.... |

That may be so, but being a pedantic fucker and having recently read the excellent Boff Whalley book 'Footnote' on the story of his (and Chumbawamba's) life I have to say I reckon he'd be pissed off at any association with LUFC. He even dedicates the book to double play-off dream shattering double scorer super Johnny Francis.
I'm going off for a lie down in a dark room at the thought of those two games entering my consious again.
I wish I hadn't brought the subject up now |

FA Cup 6th round draw:
Millwall v Tranmere Rovers
Manchester United v Fulham or West Ham United
Sunderland or Birmingham City v Sheffield United
Liverpool or Portsmouth v Arsenal
oh well, there goes this year's Cardiff trip. Probably lose to Portsmouth in the replay anyway.
Go Tranmere! |

SAD NEWS for all the Argyle heads and Tommy "Barnsley" Boo. Former player for both clubs Steve Cooper died at the weekend. He was only 39. 'Tis very very sad and there's gonna be a minutes silence at tomorrow nights game at Tranmere (he used to play for them also). Its gonna be sad tomorrow 'cos some of our coaching staff played with him and people like me remember him sooooo well.... May he RIP.
Fave memories of him:
(i) THE HAIR!
(ii) The best diving header of all time away to Bournmeouth in 1985/86 (the home one in the same season was pretty special too)
(iii) Stunning half volley that earnt us a point off Leeds in 86/87
(iv) An equally as good goal at Grimsby a week or so later
(v) A penalty miss at Newport when the home side had described him as "Argyle's ace penalty taker". |

That's really sad news indeed, I heard about it this morning.
I can't say that I knew Steve Cooper very well but I do know that he was highly rated by Barnsley fans! Maybe he wasn't the best forward ever, after all he only scored less than 20 goals in more than 90 appearances for Barnsley, but he always did his best and even more! (he spent quite a lot of his time in Barnsley suspended! ) In Barnsley he will always be remembered of his great goal against Stoke in FA Cup, his crazy goal celebrations, diving headers and hard (but usually fair) tackles, "funny" incidents that usually lead to sending off, his passion for the game.
Steve Cooper is a Barnsley hero, if we had players in our current squad who always do their best like Steve always did, we would be in Premier League now. Also, 39 is still too young to die. I heard that he "died in his sleep" last weekend, was he seriously ill or something?
I do know that he started to coach little kids in Birmingham after his playing career and did that until his death. This is a sad loss for football and my thoughts go to Steve's family and friends.
Rest in peace, Steve.

I don't think he was ill, he just died in his sleep. At 39. Scary. When he was at Argyle his wife was very ill and he did loads to look after her - some people have such a hard time of things.
Most Argyle fans love(d) him too - He wasn't the greatest but he worked hard and (in his Argyle days only judging by your picture) his long blonde hair gave him an air of cool. He didn't score many for us but when he did they were normally pretty fantastic.
Puts alot of things into perspective, and I've tried to remeber that today when i've been thinking of how shite last nites officials were and how we our having a luckless spell at the moment (which has been due as we sure rode it over Christmas). |
