alright clarts
long time reader
pretty infrequent poster here
just wondering if all yous all wouldn't mind signing our petition to stop the redevelopment of the Racourse Ground, i'm a wrexham season ticket holder and a touch concerned for our future.
http://www.petitiononline.com/WREXHAM/petition.html
See we've got a bloke called Hamilton whose got his hands on our club and seems intent on destroying our ground and making himself a tidy profit. His plan is to shift us out, probably to Widnes, for three years, then we will supposedly return to much smaller stadium on the same site. Lovely. That would be bad enough, but, thing is I fear we would never return to The Racecourse and Hamilton will just sell the whole fucking lot. We have been told that he has no interest in running our club only in "the development potential here".
Hamilton has had a nice bloke called Mark Guterman (the one took Chester down the shitter) taking us down the shitter for the past couple of years and now he's got his mate John Reames (remember him from Lincoln?) in, claming redevelopment is the only way forward. Well It's not, we have to save our ground and club. And if it was th way forward we should never trust these fuckers to do it.
Don't worry though clarts we wont let the twats destroy us.
many thanks

hey there chuddy, welcome aboard!
i've signed the petition (i'm number 245) - hopefully it helps. my favourite club barnsley were in same kind of a situation when peter doyle was in control of the club... thank god for patrick cryne and peter ridsdale too, who helped to save my beloved barnsley.
so who's this hamilton then? the wrexham chairman perhaps?
i'll spread the word... there should be quite a lot of signatures from barnsley fans in the near future. _________________

nice one Tommy Boo
and well it's nice to be here
Basically Alex Hamilton is a property developer who bought our ground about two years ago, and then purchased our club last week fom our ex chairman Mark Guterman. However according to Hamilton's new 'consultant' Reames just today, Alex Hamilton has actually allways been the owner of the club.
It's taken us two years to really find our who owns Wrexham AFC and The Racecourse (we also only found out about his purchase of the freehld very recently). Kind of a disgrace really. Our Local press has been abysmal in uncovering and then reporting the facts on the matter.
And now wth the departure of Guterman and everything finally out in the open. He has informed us of his intensions. Hamilton according to Reames is not interested in running the club and "from day one" his "sole interest has been the development potential here"
I geniunely don't think our club could be in worse hands.
ah well
things arent all bad though
I am going to see the GLC next month at Wrexham's Central Station.
knows it |

That’s an awful state of affairs, I haven't seen it mentioned in the national press at all. I find it amazing how directors and chairman who ruin football clubs seem to be able to move on and be welcomed by other clubs. And they always seem to make out that they are doing clubs a favour by going there. Peter Risdale should never be allowed anywhere near a football club again. |

Houllier leaves at midday today. I feel sorry for him and am grateful for his commitment and passion for the club which was unfortunately not reflected by most of the players on the pitch. It's even more unfortunate that those players were mainly the ones that he himself brought to Anfield.
He obviously loves Liverpool, the fans and the city itself. I am happy that he is going and pray to god that it ain't McClaren that replaces him even though I doubt that will happen.
The Thai thing is still on as well so the next week or so will be very important for the club and the fans. Exciting too. |

"Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish had been linked with a return to the club, but BBC Sport understands this is unlikely."

Much as I love Dalglish I'm not sure that him returning to the club would be a step forward.
I hope the FA give Houllier the job of sorting out Englands youth system. I'm sad to see him go, Liverpool have had some great nights with him in charge and he did win 6 trophies for us. However he seems to have lost his way in the past 18 months, I don't know if he lost his ability to motivate the players or just bought the wrong ones. I would have given him another season but I don't think the board were prepared to let him spend any more cash and had lost faith in him.
There's no obvious candidate to take over either.
Curbishley and Strachan - have never managed a big club, have never won anything.
O'Neill - doesn't play passing football
Mourinho - plays dull, niggly football
Valencia manager - plays defensive football
McClaren - no comment needed. |

Obvious to say I know but I expect it to be O'Neills _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

I've got no idea who it will be and I'm a bit worried that the board haven't either. There's a press conference at midday so hopefully things will be clearer then. I think O'Neill might bring success to the club but I don't think he'd play passing, attacking football. Plus he's never really had money to spend in the past so I'm not sure how he'd deal with that. |

LIVERPOOL MANAGERIAL ODDS
7/4: Rafael Benitez
3/1: Martin O'Neill
4/1: Alan Curbishley
5/1: Gordon Strachan
6/1: Jose Mourinho
7/1: Steve McClaren
Odds supplied by Ladbrokes
The latest BBc update understands that O'Neill is not amongst the front runners _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

Why not, John?
If you screw up something at work, would it be ok if you could never work anywhere in the same industry anymore? Ridsdale is only doing his job for fuck's sake, do you think that he did that all on purpose? I can assure you that he didn't, he's a big fan of Leeds United. I've met him personally and talked to him and he's a really friendly and polite man, not some fucking criminal businessman.
What about the other members of the Leeds board then? Should they be thrown to jail and never be allowed anywhere near a football club again? Peter Ridsdale did
not
make all the decisions alone, in fact he was against some of the big money signings. No one ever mentions this, especially the fucking idiotic British media, because they all want a scapegoat, and that's Peter Ridsdale. OK, he fucked up things pretty badly, but you can't blame only him, he was just one member of the Leeds board.
No one complained when things went well, when Leeds played in the Champions League semi finals and were close to winning the Premier League title. No one. Now Ridsdale is a swearword in Leeds and they all hate him... That's not right. Peter Ridsdale made a mistake and he has openly admitted it. But we all make mistakes, and no matter how bad it is (if you don't do it on purpose) you always deserve another chance. I just wonder how it feels to be hated that much by the fans of your own favourite football club...
I'm expecting some kind of a reply to this, I think it's just bloody annoying when people attack against Peter Ridsdale without knowing the facts. Don't believe everything they say in the newspapers, I've learned that 99% of them are absolute rubbish.
Thank you. Rant over. _________________

I'm sure Peter Risdale is a big fan of Leeds United and a very nice man to as well I'm a big fan of Liverpool and also a lovely man but doesn't mean I should be put in charge of running the financial affairs of the club. Peter Risdale was the chairman of the club therefore the buck stops with him. No-one can say that the position Leeds are in now is a good one or better than it was when Risdale took over. He has to take the blame for that, he was the chairman, thats his job, thats why he was getting paid £400k a year. I'm not saying that he did anything criminal and I'm sure he had the best intentions when he was at the club but decisions he was involved in have resulted in Leeds being relegated and on the verge of bankruptsy. If I did that to the firm I work for I wouldn't expect to walk into another job in the industry very soon afterwards.
And I also think Risdale is wrong in blaming the failure on the fans demanding success. Of course they weren't complaining when they spent loads of money on lots of new players and they got to the Champions League semi final. But I think that if the fans had been told that the signing of the new players was going to put the future of the club in jeopardy they wouldn't have been so keen. The fans had no way of knowing that this was the case but Risdale did and therefore he should accept the blame.
I also don't think he helped himself by insisting on being on TV and in the papers all the time, like some kind of celebrity. Most people won't know the names of other clubs chairmen but everyone knew about Publicity Pete. So if he was happy to go on the pitch at the end of games and accept the applause of the crowds then he should accept the criticism that results from his decisions. |

Well, Peter Ridsdale offered his help to Barnsley FC and they accepted it, and fans seem to be grateful for him. I would understand it if no one wants Ridsdale in their club, but are you trying to say that he should be
banned
from football for life? It just doesn't work like that. It's Barnsley FC's 'problem' now, and at least I'm grateful for all his help.
And you still somehow missed the fact that Peter Ridsdale was only ONE member of the Leeds board. Yes, he was the chairman, but he voted for 'no' on some of the big player purchases. So how come everyone's blaming Peter Ridsdale only? What about the other members of the board?
Peter Ridsdale is responsible for what happened (and still happens) at Leeds, but only
partially
responsible, and we shouldn't forget that!!

Well, what if some other firm offered a job for you? Peter Ridsdale left his place at Leeds United and got a job in Barnsley Football Club, so what's the problem?! _________________

If someone offered me a job then of course I'd take it. And I don't think think Risdale should be banned, maybe I wrote that without thinking it through. But it annoys me that in the Leeds situation no-one wants to take the blame. Not O'Leary, not Risdale, not anyone. Their statements are always "Yes, I did a few things wrong but...." and then they list why its not their fault at all. And it especially annoys me that Risdale wants to shift some of the blame onto the supporters, all that stuff about "we wanted to live the dream" and "they weren't complaining when we were doing well". In the meantime Peter Risdale is still a multi-millionaire while people in less well paid jobs at Leeds were made redundant and the supporters have to put up with the consequences of the previous boards actions. Surely someone at Leeds should have seen that the whole thing was going to fall apart if they failed to qualify for the Champions League a couple of times.
Maybe I'm wrong and Peter Risdale will be a massive success at Barnsley and he's learned from his mistakes at Leeds. |
