Butler says.

PR should not work together with Intelligence...

Large Caveats of intelligence were dropped from the dossier. These included,

"Little or nothing is known about Iraqs WMD from 1999 onwards" and
"Intelligence on Iraqs WMD capability is sporadic and patchy at best"

Blair said this intelligence left him with utter conviction that Iraq was planning to bomb us and could do so in 45 minutes.

Butler said the 45 minute claim should never have been included, and was there only because it was "eye-catching".

and who is to blame for this? Who is to blame for hundreds of our Soldiers, and THOUSANDS of Iraq Civilians now dead? Who is responsible?

No one.

Fucking whitewash.

Amen to that.

It seems that the general opinion amongst the pro-war brigade is that wether there were any WMD's or not is irrelevant. We kicked Saddams ass, he was A Bad Man and it's better now he's gone. Quite what the citizens of Iraq think about this is another matter.

There is also the argument put forward that owing the fact that we didn't know if Iraq had weapons or not and that Saddam wouldn't tell us, it was OK to invade.
Surely the same argument could be used to invade Iceland!

I honestly think Blair is convinced he wasn't lying, and he probably wasn't.
He was so focussed on there having to be WMD's present that when he read that intelligence(?) dossier he was 100% convinced of their existence, the caveats meant nothing to him. He simply blanked them out.

He should still resign though, not for taking the country to war based on a lie, but for being so bloody stupid. How can you trust somebody who doesn't read things properly to run the country?
