My girlfriend and myself had a wonderful evening last week at the BC gig in exeter, plenty of beers and a wonderful couple of hours in the company of Martin and Witchita main man, Dick Green. I trust I didn't bore you too much, BC, or let my drunken ramblings go on too much.

The show was fantastic (and for those of you who don't make it for a date on the tour for whatever reason and, quite frankly, geography is the only excuse I will accept, the live album covers it really well - in fact I think the set was the same), but I have to say that the turn-out was piss poor....

In the pub across the road before hand we overheard a good number of exeter's bright, young things discussing the evenings entertainment and the prospect of seeing 'Greg's band'. Inside the venue there may well have been 100 or so of the kids who watched Piney Gir - we like in a helen love kinda way, blue states - we like in an M83 kinda way and the aforementioned 'Greg's band'.... and then the majority of the bastards left leaving 20 or so watching and maybe 20 others sat in the bar area which, for those of you who don't know the cavern, and I suspect that's just about all of you, is seperated from the stage area by a fucking great wall. So they would have heard it really well and we'll let their inability to stand up for 45 minutes go...just.

In conclusion:

BC not only makes great music, but is a genuinely warm, friendly and generous person... and by the way Fi couldn't believe you are 30ish she reckoned you were about23 Very Happy

Greg's band were shite, no they truly were... Fi remembers their name but says they deserve no publicity here or anywhere else from me Twisted Evil

And, The Mushrooms... well Martin told me of a gig in Blackpool back in the early days of the Boos when they were supported by this band. A good few 100 were in the venue, and he felt liked they may be on their way (to conquering the seaside town at least). After the mushrooms finished the venue emptied and they were left playing to themselves.... The route to top 40 success and critical acclaim eh? Confused

Exeter is full of shite.

Aaaarrrr, don't worry Cap'n Carr, I'm 93 and the kiddies still love me as long as I keep 'em in golden, crispy, bread crumbed seafood products. There's a lesson for you there, ship mate
