RIP Dave, whichever God you don't believe in, may he be with you xxx _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

Only six months after his television debut in 1963, Dave Allen was banned from the Australian airwaves when on a live show he had told the producer - who had been pressing him to go to a commercial break - to "go away and masturbate" so that he could continue an interview with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
He was not afraid to use the Troubles for comedy material: "Which is the fastest game in the world? It's played in Belfast pubs and is called Pass The Parcel."
Barely into his first show of a new series for the BBC, he began to reflect: "We spend our lives on the run: We get up by the clock, go to work by the clock, eat and sleep by the clock, get up again, go to work - and then we retire. And what do they give us? A fucking clock."
- excerpts from a newspaper article on him the other day |
