Match day 1: Cookie challenge!
Ding ding! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the grand opening day of the International Tea League! In the red corner we have China's pride
Yingteh Black Tea!
And in the blue corner, we have London's own son
Twinings Earl Grey
! We also have an assistant cookie here, may I introduce you to my new French friend,
Fourré chocolate biscuit
!
The tea pot is hot and everything's ready, so CRUNCH, I bite the biscuit and the match begins!
Mmm chocolate.
Yingteh Black Tea VS Twinings Earl Grey
First impressions:
So the season has now officially kicked off, I'm sure the next few days/weeks will be very exciting! Earl Grey is an experienced veteran, but Yingteh is a newcomer in da tommyboo house, so this should be interesting!
Both teas taste quite similar in the beginning, but Earl Grey surprises me with taking the early lead! Fourré biscuits and Earl Grey seem to go together very well, whereas Yingteh Black tastes a bit too ordinary.
0-1 for Earl Grey! The whole London is supporting their own boys and holding their breath, I can almost touch the atmosphere and I know this is going to be a fascinating night!
Half time:
Great news for the Twinings fans! Earl Grey have scored again just before the half time, so it's 0-2 for the Londoners! The Chinese have been a little unlucky today, but they simply haven't been able to beat the lovely spicy taste of Earl Grey, they've been a little bit too mild perhaps. Could be because of the chocolate biscuit though! Still, I think it's going to be an interesting second half... Yingteh certainly have nothing to lose but there's still 1/2 cup left so anything can happen.
CRUNCH!
Yingteh starts the second half with style, and the Chinese fans won't have to wait for the first point for very long. The tea is still quite hot but getting colder already, so Yingteh should be strong on the second half! 2-1 now, oh my oh my this is going to be exciting!
1/3 left, Earl Grey is starting to taste a bit
too
spicy and yuk, but Yingteh's mild taste is getting even nicer, it's almost soothing. The Fourré chocolate effect is totally killing the taste of Earl Grey now... they're gonna have to change their tactics soon!
But my oh my what's going on - Yingteh have just equalised, it's 2-2 and only 1/4 cups left! Earl Grey's tactics have failed completely, I'm sure they'll be happy with a draw now but Yingteh clearly want all three points! Good for them, and what a fascinating match this has been so far!
Extra time:
Only crumbles left on the table, 1/6 cups left. Earl Grey are desperately trying to defend the draw, and Yingteh are creating chances all the time. The tea is getting cold and Earl Grey is starting to taste like cat's pee, they're so bad. The chocolate effect and the lowered temperature have totally killed the nice spicy taste that Earl Grey had in the beginning... Yingteh are coming forward for probably for one last time now, the referee's already looking at his watch... this is looking dangerous now... Yingteh shoots from the edge of the box... it's in, IT'S IN!!! Yingteh have taken the lead in the injury time, what a comeback!! This is a total disaster for Twinings Earl Grey, they can't believe what happened. And there goes the final whistle now, Yingteh have won the match! Unbelievable!
London will be in tears tonight, but the People's Republic of China is going to celebrate the magnificent victory! Yingteh showed some real battling spirit today and they've made the whole China proud. Hopefully Earl Grey will learn something from today, the ultra-defensive tactics together with chocolate biscuits was clearly a very bad mistake.
This is Tommy Boo, thanks for listening, please join us again next time!
Final score:
Yingteh Black
3 - 2
Twinings Earl Grey

Tommy,
The best tea is PG Tips!
It would beat that lot hands down. _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

Tonight's match live on BC1:
Lipton Raspberry
VS
Yorkshire Tea
Cookie Challenge!
The teapots are blazing hot, both competitors are ready,
3 - 2 - 1 - GO!
The second match of the season starts. The home tea(m), Lipton Raspberry is the pride of the USA, their best one at the moment. The people of Yorkshire, on the other hand, have just witnessed Barnsley's great victory over Blackpool in the football league, but who cares about football now when we've got some hot International Tea League action LIVE ON BC1! Yorkshire people, including our very own Kinkster and Melz, have gathered in local pubs to follow the action and cheer their favourites.
We've got two very different kind of teas here tonight so this should be very very interesting. And of course we've got an assistant cookie again, Fourré's chocolate cookie. Lovely.
First impressions:
Lipton Raspberry starts very well, it tastes sweet, smells good, and it does taste a bit like raspberry indeed! The tea is very hot but still
remarkably drinkable
, it's quite amazing. Yorkshire tea isn't too bad either though - it tastes a bit like milk even though there's no milk at all, that's quite exciting. Even though the temperatures of both teas must be pretty close to each other (both are still very hot), Lipton Raspberry is much more enjoyable.
1-0
for the Americans! Mmm this is good.
The tea temperatures are decreasing - it's possible now to take bigger gulps and this certainly isn't good for Lipton Raspberry! Yorkshire have just equalised, it's
1-1
now. The sweet taste of raspberry is getting a bit
too
sweet now, whereas Yorkshire tea still tastes nice and mild and a bit milky and soft. Some American fans find it slightly amusing how Yorkshire people call their own people "dog's bollocks", they don't get it.
The tea is getting even colder and Lipton Raspberry shows no signs of improvement, the taste is getting much too sweet. The chocolate cookie and Yorkshire seem to be a great combination though, and the Yorkshireans are looking even stronger now! It's only a question of time until they score again, and the next goal might be crucial!
The Americans are looking completely knackered, their tea is much too sweet and almost disgusting - I can only admire Yorkshire Tea's endurance! They've provided some unforgettable tea action tonight and now they're giving Lipton Raspberry a good beating.
Now this is looking good, Yorkshire Tea are coming through from the middle... my oh my they're basically just walking through the knackered Lipton defence! YES! It's
1-2
for Yorkshire Tea, this has got to be the winner! Excellent stuff.
And there goes the final whistle, Yorkshire have won the match! It's amazing how another tea has fallen to pieces after such a promising start again, perhaps Lipton Raspberry's chocolate compability wasn't very good after all. But Yorkshire tea were absolutely stunning tonight, I can't wait to see them in action again!
Full time:
Lipton Raspberry
1 - 2
Yorkshire Tea
EDIT: damn gillnun finds all my typos

Maybe the
Ceylon
tea(m) will get promoted to the Premier Tea League for the Season 2 and we'll see how they do in the top flight! _________________

They all have funny names at least. Should be fun!
I probably won't find all those in Finland though, but I'll have a look next time I go to do some tea shopping! (which isn't very often actually, believe it or not)

I almost bought some Clipper Fairtrade today, but instead of that I bought someotherfairtradetea. I'll let you know what it's like later then...
I bought some new tea cups as well, they're green from outside and brownish-white from inside - they're great for tea, tea tastes so much better now!
I'm going to have another cup of tea
right now

Don't get involved in the sordid world of Lapsang Souchon, Tommy. A bloke I used to work with insisted on drinking it, it used to make the whole office smell for hours afterwards. Is smell a factor in deciding promotion/relegation issues? |

I just realised that I drank five big mugs of tea while I was watching the Liverpool VS Olympiakos game. _________________

I wish I had remembered your warning, John.
(Twinings) Lapsang Souchong... smells bad and tastes absolutely horrible.
