So I wandered into the local virgin megastore this morning and there blaring out of the speakers were the heavenly horns of Lazarus.
For a brief moment I felt like it was 1993 again.
And incidently they had no copies of FTWO but I cannot report whether they were sold out or had none to begin, so I got it from hmv instead. £9.99 - bargain! _________________ Be sad, be happy and be wise |

The 2 records shops near me both didn't have it so I've just been to the big HMV in Manchester to get it. Its pissing down here and I risked my life on the motorway getting there, isn't summer great. haven't heard 'blue room in archway' for ages, i love that song. does the 'creation anthology' label down the side mean there's gonna be similar lp's by other ex-creation bands?
if anyone hasn't got it yet I suggest you hurry up, i looked on amazon just now it says there: Only 1 left in stock but more will be available--order now. |

review from the Times: "too out there and too heartfelt to cash in on the Britpop boom, the Boo Radleys made some wonderful, unique music. Albums such as Giant Steps (1993) displayed more ambition than most of their contemporaries, and it is this fearless venturing that makes the first disc of this career retrospective such riveting stuff.
Not that Martin Carr's natural pop sensibility would be denied - Barney (....and Me) is the band's loveliest moment, its vulnerability swallowed whole by the 1970s sunshine choruses. What follows, on disc two, is a suite of perfect pop, both inventive and addictive. The Boo Radleys never received the commercial reward that their sublime pop deserved, but this fine compilation proves that bitterness never soured thier songcraft."
4 stars, reviewed by Steve chick. |
