Apparently it's a rather damn good album and they're good live too.

Yes, got Funeral today and can't decide who they sound like. Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, and in a silly way, for some unknown reason, Joy Divison. Then again I always get whodunnits really wrong too!! |

Like I said in my other thread, this is indeed a very special album. In my top three of the 2000s along with
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
and
Kid A

It's good is this!
All of the above and Talking heads, of course and in places the Pixies. Neighbourhood#2 & Haiti especially.
Canadian as well! Much better than Bryan Adams or Alanis Morrisette, thanks for the recommendation!! _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

Yeah.. The production is pretty poor but I think its the style they we're going for.. I think its this thats making people think 'Joy Devision' as some of their stuff sounds poorly produced - though it really wan't at the time!! |

Joy Division's stuff, 'badly' produced?
Oh dear...
Hannett's claustrophobic production was revolutionary. It's absolute genius. |

Apparently Peter Hook reckons the Joy Division albums were badly produced because they didn't capture how the band sounded live. Or it might be Barney, I'm not sure. |

i love the production of joy division, it sounds really sparse and haunting. Whereas Arcade Fire sounds muddy- still a great album though.
