'Totnes Bickering Fair' by Half Man Half Biscuit. I know I harp on about them quite regularly but their new album's quite special. _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

HMHB are ace, haven't heard the new stuff yet, but was at a fair in Totnes last Saturday. Not much bickering mind, loads of middle class ex-hippies though.
TOTD: Lazarus on headphones while dozing in a sun drenched room with the kick of nicorette patches giving me the most vivid dreams.

"Sleeper Hold" by No Age - ideal music to accompany running alongside a canal when its sunny. I thought they were rubbish but I was wrong. I'm wrong quite a bit these days and it worries me. |

i'm scared of canals. dirty den's death (well first death anyway, must be good being like jesus and having 2 exits from this world, i'd quite like that actually 'cos i can't decide whether i'd like to die watching test cricket having been hit by the ball preferably caught on camera or from hyperventaling at a bus turning up on time in bristol and going out with a wry smile knowing my passing would delay it again - anyway i'd like to try both out, what i do know is i'd like to be really old), sorry, dirty dens death put me off 'em, canals that is. when i lived in bath i used to quake crossing the bridge over a canal, it was made particularly hard by the fact i also had to walk past a flower stall.
anyway suns out and how ace is sparkys album?
todays tune? ah that's
hold on eyes up by light of words.
i can't decide whether i'm watching greatness unfurl before my eyes when i see them but they are only bettered by nova saints in bristol at the moment and this tune suggests they are gonna be fan friggin' tastic.
bitchee bitchee ya ya ya at thekla tomorrow night anyone?

good man.
the whip with grand central. great line up. not happy they've cancelled cardiff next week as i still can't get enough of 'em live! enjoy.
don't know if 93 Million Miles From The Sun are Donny Rvrs fans but if they are then to have missed their win tonight in favour of playing to about a dozen of us at the Louis is highly commendable. Its the second time i've seen them and though their a little inconsistent they are gonna be a top shoegaze/nu-gaze band. Shennen were surprisingly good as well.
I love the louis. And I love thekla. Hooray for bristols music scene but not its premiersh** bound football team
Will we see you at band of horses at leadmill? _________________ Britain... It's not that Great! |

GTA 4 is brilliant and definitely the best thing of the year so far - better than Christiano Ronaldo, 'There Will Be Blood', 'Third', The Apprentice and John Prescott's autobiography. It's annoying that they've released it now when it's getting sunny outside though. No wonder The Kids (and me) are fat, pale and socially inadequate these days.
The Ting Tings are number one in the hit parade, when did they become proper popstars? |

They were Ace, though I thought they played all their best tunes at the start, which slightly weakend the end for them.
Grand Central doing Higher State of Conciousness was the pleasnt surprise of the night, but they need to think up a few more melodies before I'll begin to take notice of them.
When is Band of Horses? To be honest, I've never actually heard anything by them?

Oh yes - GTA4. Take Alex from the dating website out and push her off the top of a skyscraper. Or send her through a windscreen into the sea.
The go and read her blog. It's genius.
