The latest Arctic Monkeys EP, "Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys", seems to be a post-ironic attempt to bring about their own demise. The title track even features the line given to this thread.

The thing is, for me at least, they may have just succeeded. I usually have to wait for a second album of diminishing returns before getting bored of a bands non-attempt at progression. Arctic Monkeys have brought about my apathy in the space of four whole months Shocked

I don't hate the arctic monkeys, but I hate what gets written about them. I honestly can't find the wittiness never mind the poetry in their lyrics. Their tunes aren't innovative and are actually quite bland. Their lead singer also strikes me as someone who's brain's just gone soft on the basis of all the praise that's been heaped their way. Their star burned bright but I can't see a promising future for them. Another mediocre band, The Kaiser Chiefs, will however outsell the monkeys and outlast them.
