What rocked yer boats this year? Mine is pretty lame sounding, but it was just one of those amazing nights.

New Order at Electric Picnic.

Love them. I had never seen them live before. Was told that they are ropey live. Was subsequently blown away...Ceremony and Temptation were class, as were Transmission and Blue Monday. I could go on. It was a very smiley crowd though which added to it. Top festival, electric picnic. I reccomend heartily. The earlies, The rapture, broken social scene, Basement Jaxx, Jim Noir, Mogwai, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (way better than I expected) and another out of the blue blistering set from Massive Attack (dark, druggy then euphoric) were amongst many other highlights of the weekend. Gotta say though. My gig of the year:

New Order.

Now what was yours?

I've not seen many gigs this year. The biggest disappointment was fucking my neck up 2 days before the bravecaptain gig in Chester. I can't tell you how much i was looking forward to that.

Benicassim was a brilliant alternative to Glastonbury. Scissor Sister, Erol Alkan, Strokes, Franz, Isolee, 2ManyDJs / Nite versions, Depeche mode all while drinking ICE COLD lager and getting a tan.

By far and away the best gig I've seen this year however, was Hop of The States at The Leadmill. Something I'll treasure for my remaining life.

Best - The Go! Team and Daft Punk
Worst - Ryan Adams

According to popbitch it wasn't really Daft Punk at all inside the robot outfits. They were still ace though:

So, you're a reclusive but legendary dance
act. You decide to do a few gigs. Your
agent contacts the big European festivals
and tells them you are prepared to do three
dates only - to the highest bidders. Bidding
reaches 300,000 euros, so you agree. And
then your agent rings more festivals and says
- ok, you'll do ten dates only, at 300k a
pop. You then do these festivals dressed as
robots. Except, you don't even bother going on
stage for every gig, you get two replacements
to work the pre-programmed synths etc.

Congratulations - you are Daft Punk!
