Six songs.

I don't know how or when or if this will ever come out.

I need to come up with a plan, all suggestions welcome.

Love

Martin

sweet jesus, now that was a nice surprise.
all the songs sound lovely, the only one that i had heard before was 'dead of winter' so it became an instant favourite, but the rest of them are ace too.

beautiful.

i'm afraid i can't help you with coming up with a cunning plan, but i really hope you do get the album released in some way or another. if all else fails, perhaps you could do the mp3+artwork thingy again?

thanks. x

Well if Richard Hawley can make millions writing nice acoustic tunes, I see no reason why the thoroughly beautiful Goldrush 49 can't do the same damn thing.

As for a plan? Well, I have no idea. I honestly think everyone should do what Sparky did with his album, but that doesn't really help does it?

I've been listening to these all day and they sound absolutely fantastic! Dead of Winter in particular sounds sublime!

Unfortunately, I'm no help either when it comes to formulating plans but I hope something works out.

Running is great isn't it, both the song and the means of quickly propelling yourself quickly from one place to another on foot. It's definitely better than walking .

As for how to get the rest of the world to hear this stuff and make some money so Martin can continue to eat, drink and be merry I'm not really sure. Obviously there's the sell stuff through your own website way like for the 2005 singles stuff but that doesn't really open up the possibility of many people hearing it beyond those who already know and like his tunes.

There's a load of websites who claim to be offering up new 'business models' where artists can make money in these scary torrenty times. I've got no idea whether any of them will generate any money but it might be looking at:

imeem - Gives artists a share of ad revenue
http://www.imeem.com/

spiralfrog - Gives artists a share of ad revenue
http://www.spiralfrog.com
http://corp.spiralfrog.com/about.aspx
http://www.spiralfrog.com/pages/faq.aspx

jamendo - ad revenue again and users can make 'donations' to artists they're fans of
http://www.jamendo.com

magnatune - listeners choose what they'd like to pay for downloaded music
http://www.magnatune.com/info/press/coverage/usa_today
http://www.magnatune.com/info/whatwedo

And if he does end up making any money, once he's paid his eating, drinking and being merry expenses, Martin should buy one of these:

It's like a big Ipod touch for giants and I want one now.

Ya these songs are absolutely great, lovely melodies and Martin's voice sounds better than ever. I particularly love Orpheus Lament and Running (beautiful harmonies and guitar lines). I'd download them off iTunes right now if they were available. It would be a shame if the album doesn't get the release it deserves!!

what is this an order of the brown nose thread? Smile
not without reason though eh? some lovely tunes n agree about the voice sounding better than ever.

yonks ago i wrote somewhere on here - amongst me other crap - that mr carr twas only rivalled by paddy mcaloon as britains, well the worlds, greatest songwriter.

after playing neon neon lots n now hearing martins new stuff i actually think its mr carr or gruff rhys. but who is best out of those 2? guess we'll have to wait for a music version of tv burp to find out.

i'm absolutely loving these songs...reminds me of the excitement i used to get as a teenager when new boo's stuff came out...current favourite is orpheus lament but bound to change daily...

will think about a plan but there's got to be some way [considering all the shite that's about at the moment] for stuff this good to see the light of day...

So when it says "new album" just that mean these 6 are a 'taster' for a longer album if/when it does/better get released? Or is it a mini?
