i'd forgotten about xtrmntor too. that seems like it was a lifetime ago.
i'm still not mature enough to really appreciate films. even with films i really like, after 40 minutes i get fidgety and start thinking there's other things i could/should be doing instead, when there invariably isn't. 'this is it' is worth seeing though, does that count as a real film?
i've had a decade like a quality sitcom, i've done a load of things and ended up right back where i started. same job, same friends, same sights, same sounds, new beats though. always new beats. |

Indeed. I remember reading the review of it in Select magazine... _________________ Scattershot Writing: www.jameseverington.blogspot.com |

4. top 1 martin carr album of the decade
advertisements for myself
5. film of the decade
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
6. goal of the decade
My mate Rob scored the most amazing goal I have ever seen in my life whilst trying out the new Fifa game in our local Blockbuster. It was so good that we both had to shout “WHOOOOOOAAAAAA!!” much to the surprise of other shoppers. Whilst being stared at, Rob simply smiled and proudly announced “To be fair, everyone, that was a fuckin’ amazing goal.” Nuff said, really.
7. tv programme of the decade
24
8. if you were going to a 00's fancy dress party, who would you go as?
Harry Potter dressed as David Mitchell. Apparently then I could just go as myself.
9. there's only five years to go until marty mcfly arrives in his time machine, do you think we'll have invented flying cars and hoverboards by then?
Probably not. Though if we haven’t invented hoverboards by the time the Machines take over then there’s something seriously wrong. _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

i think nme might be re-discovering its indy-ness
xtrmntr was no 2 in its albums of the decade (the bc forum universal fave is this it being no 1) and today it had - rightly rightly rightly - the horrors as album of the year (and it fucking is, no arguments )
anyway its amazing that xtrmntr came out in jan 00 - i can't believe it was that long ago though to be fair it was pretty obvious from the first bars of kill all hippies that it was a classic and to be fair to the horrors with primary colours they've released an album that should've been its follow up.
anyway i can't believe i didn't add exit calm and kyte to my best live bands list and i'm even more shocked that i didn't nominate still game as tv programme of the decade.
still where we all gonna be at the end of the next decade? me i plan on emigrating to Ascension and owning me own football club +political party + appearing on football factories international. reality is though i'll be stuck here, moaning about everything and everyone and kidding myself i still look about 12. _________________ Britain... Not only is "Welcome To The Night Sky" by Wintersleep the Album of The Year 2009, it's the Album of The Decade and very close to my favourite album of all time.
x
p.s. We really should do a 2009 list, because i think it's been one of the best ever.

I agree.
2009 has certainly been the best year for music in all my 37 years.
I have set up a seperate thread for it but cant do my "best of" til between xmas and new year as i'm struggling to keep up with the volume of great music this year! _________________ we spent a lot of time trying to make our guitars sound like trumpets...then someone told us we could actually use real trumpets |

I don't have a good enough memory to make a top 10, I can never remember what's what, and loads I am thinking of turn out to be from 1999!
I will definitely have though for top albums:
Sigur Ros - með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
The Postal Service - Give Up
Primal Scream - Exterminator
Lemon Jelly - Lost Horizons
Beruit - The Flying Club Cup

Cymbals eat guitars was 2009, which I already declared the best I can remember. It overtakes wintersleep (also 2009) as my favourite of the decade. What a year! _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,
