Mark Linkous death is clearly the more tragic and a good reminder that Michael Foot lived a good, long life.

having spent the mornin' freezin' on the picket line (thankfully a beautiful sunny dry morning, and one that lifted the spirits even when a long time mate and moaner of the highest order crossed the line - seriously they can get to fuck if they ever need a lift to an Argyle game again) we naturally talked about the politics of that era, how people used to go into politics with conviction in their beliefs and had a drive to improve peoples lot have largely been replaced by careerists who use it as an easy buck etc etc,

frankly we could do with them again, and its amazing given the collapse of capitalism - and that truly is what happened - that actually anyone with those views would still get shot down in the press and that the common person would have their views swayed by such press and end falling for the lines that politics like that ain't realistic, are a thing of the past - are they fuck. much of them truly are the way for the future...

anyway on a lighter note he remains the only politician who's autograph i have - nicely scribbled across a newport county v plymouth argyle programme.

much that i agreed with most of his views i'll be honest and say that i'll remember him more for avoiding sitting until he really had to, for queing with the rest of us at plenty of away games and - this must strike a chord with football fans (or ex football fans) of a certain era - for being public of his love for the game when most politicians shirked away from it or like moynihan just wanted it killed off.

And yet Sting still lives. A messed up world.

RIP Becci. You were my very good friend and I'd never have met my love without you. There's simply no justice in the world that people like you can die aged 33. I'll do my best to help Craig and see your kids are raised to make you proud.
