Who is the best player you seen:

1) For the team you support adn
2) For anyone, ever - but you can't vote for Pele because BC has already pointed out that he's 'overated pub rock arse'

For me its John Barnes in his late 80's slim, Lucozade Sport drinking days and Zinedine Zidane at the beginning of this decade.

Can't choose one as I support a team of many stars...muahaha.

Off the top of my head Vialli, Cantona, Baggio, Del Piero, Ravanelli, Buffon, Cannavaro, Zambrotta...

And more...

I'd just like to take this minute and point out that my father played against Dalglish once, the world cup...hihi...

Dalglish was the man.

And the arse. He had more arse than Liberace, and that's a lot of arse.

Greatest player for a long time would have had to have been Gianfranco ZOLA. His feet are only size 3 1/2 you know!!! God like genius, oh to see that goal against Norwich, as good as a nice shag.

Neil Shipperley !
OK, I never saw Barnsley during their Premier League season (well, I saw a couple of matches on TV but that doesn't count!) so I can't choose any of those players. Anyway, Neil Shipperley is not only the best Barnsley player I've seen - he's also my all time favourite player in the mighty Reds shirt. He stayed with us only for less than three seasons, but that was enough to impress me. Shipperley isn't the most skillful player ever, but his work rate and contribution for the team was something totally amazing, and his finishing was excellent too. I'll never forget the super sub Shipperley who scored a second half hat trick in Finland in July 2000 in a friendly match against my local team! Shocked (I had already been a fan for five years then and Barnsley were the first and so far the last foreign team that has played here!)

I met Kenny once . . . I couldn't speak, he was my childhood hero and I started talking unintelligable rubbish about jumping over advertising hoardings). He grinned back at me, shook my hand, and now I can die happy.

"We all agree Kenny Dalglish is magic."

Though Paisley rated Liddell even better - I can't even imagine . . .

i've "met" kenny a few times. been speechless every time, but that's normal for me. what do you say?

i'm sure paisley said kenny was the best player he'd seen. oh well, it doesn't really matter. it's hard to compare a 40's/50's player with a 70's/80's one.

Doncaster Rovers once signed a player called Mirsad Bubalovic and hailed him as the "Greatest player ever to wear a Rovers shirt".

He played five minutes against Brodsworth in a Mickey Mouse Cup game and then they sold him. Rolling Eyes

NEIL SHIPPPEEERRRLEEEYYY!

In the picture Shipperley celebrates his goal in Barnsley's 0-4 victory over Birmingham in the Playoff Semifinals (2000). It was a great day, great memories, pity how crap we are now. Sad Oh where are you Bruce Dyer and Neil Shipperley?
