anyone here like 'to you alone' by the beta band. i've constantly played it since it came out a few years ago and is one of my favourite records ever. i can't seem to find anyone who has actually heard it.

records the time we spent together

you do not realise the line that runs from me
across the universe to you alone"

Not heard that one, but I really like what I've heard by them.

Couldn't stop playing "The Patty Patty Sound EP" when I got it & then subsequently bought the other 2 EP's.
I did have their first album but it's got lost somewhere.

Time to trawl around & see what I can dig up, I think! Wink

I've heard it, it was given away with the NME on free CD a couple of years ago, it’s a top tune.

Are the Beta Band splitting up? I saw an advert for their tour and it was called something like 'The Farewell Tour'.heir tour and it was called something like 'The Farewell Tour'.

I saw some Beta Band albums in the record shop the other day. Which is their best one? (which one should I buy?)
THANK YOU.

i spent the whole of university having increasingly bloody fist fights with one of my best mates as to whether the beta band or the boo radleys are the most underrated british band of recent times. of course i / boos won, but i always admired my mate for having feelings for a and on the same level as i had for the boos, and the beta band for inspiring them.

My two biggest regrets of the year concern the beta band too. i lost my favourite hat at glastonbury, a blue reni-style signed/scribbled over/coloured in by the beta band - i still check ebay regularly in the forlorn hope of getting it back. and then there's not throwing away my beta band ticket when they played in london and following my heart to devendra banhart at the water rats on the same night. you could see there beta band were on the way out, they'd lost all of that imaginative spark that had ever made them special for me and they just seemed bored and tired. still doesn't stop me missing that hat.

The Beta Band are great! Very Happy As for which album to buy first, I'm not sure. 99% of people would probably advise you to get "The Three EPs" which is a great compilation of their early songs (including the brilliant "Dry The Rain") but I actually recommend "Hot Shots II" which was the first Beta Band CD I heard. Very Happy

Failing that, the new album "Heroes To Zeros" is fantastic too! Rolling Eyes

It never really happened for the Beta Band commercially did it, I suppose tellling everyone that the first proper album was rubbish didn't help. At least they did it with their current album rather than slagging off old stuff. I read an interview with The Music where they were saying how they hated their first album, a fact they didn't seem keen to mention when they were trying to get people to buy it when it came out.

"to you alone" is fucking brilliant and that's no lie. in fact, i may go put it on now.
