Then this place would be awfully quiet. _________________

Mmmmmm, I haven't seen Juventus at all this season but I assume they're still quite good at football. I've really got no idea if we can beat them, our results seem to be so random these days. Hopefully we can push on from the derby win though (at the request of Dave W I didn't watch the game, hence we won). |
wow, thanks. that's loyalty! we played pretty well in the first half yesterday before half the team got injured again. could have easily won by 3 or 4 if baros could shoot or tackle...
blackburn the other night was really poor. still major problems with motivation for a lot of players, but hopefully that won't be a problem against juve.
i wouldn't have thought we'd beat them, as they don't seem to let in goals and we only score occasionally.

| Dave W - do you ever go to the away legs of European ties? The only one I've been to was the 2-0 against Roma when Owen scored twice, it was a brilliant night. They kept us in the ground for a couple of hours after the game and showed our win against Man U from the weekend before on the screens in the ground. |
i've never been to a european away. i probably will at some point in the future. was quite tempted by a trip to milan if we'd drawn one of them. don't think juventus away would be the best first trip!
i've read loads of stories in the fanzines away european aways, mostly involving finding the nearest bar, staying there for 2 days only leaving to watch the game, which is usually rubbish. so that seems a bit pointless. but a trip to a beautiful city with a great match thrown in sounds like fun. i am suitably jealous of your roma trip. presumably you weren't one of the reds who got stabbed, john? |

i work with a l'pool fan who does a couple of euro trips a season - i'm always dead envious when he's setting off. if my team ever got into europe proper i'd give up on the domestic scence.
was lucky enough to see ac milan once and the stadium is beautiful, well worth a visit. but agree travelling all that way to spend 2 days in a bar is a bit twatty - bit of effort and yer can drink and enjoy the culture. |

I saw a re-run of the match yesterday and thought it was a brilliant game. We looked decent near the end of the first half but getting all those injuries is very weird, none of the challenges looked particularly bad (unlike every challenge Duncan Ferguson did). God knows who's gonna play up front at the weekend, polish up your boots Mr W, if you get there early enough we could see the dream partnership of Smicer and W playing together.
I went to Rome with my brother and we got there a couple of days before and did the touristy stuff then, it’s a beautiful city. However the day after the game was spent in an Irish bar (with a sign on the window saying 'Skip the Trevi, Come For A Bevy') singing songs and with loads of Liverpool fans who were still there. Not a very culturally enriching day but a fun one.
Fortunately I managed to avoid getting stabbed which is always nice. After we'd been let out of the ground we we stood around for ages waiting for the coach to take us back to the town centre and after a while a few blokes said "F*ck this, we'll walk back to our hotel" and off they marched. However they subsequently ran back 5 minutes later after finding a load of Roma fans waiting for any Scousers who fancied a bit of a punch up. |

It will have to be Smicer and.. uh... is Le Tallec injured as well? Smicer gets knocked over so easily, I'd worry about the referee blowing his whistle within 100 yards of him bring back Heskey, I say! (...not)
they played some great stuff against the bluenoses tho... apart from Baros, who ruined what was a good day at the office (bar those injuries of course. did none of them get them from tackles? I thought at least Warnock did)
and how did Hibbert not get booked for the tackle on Garcia that led to the free-kick Gerrard scored from? that was every bit as dangerous (if not as cinematic) as the admittedly x-rated tackle by Baros on Alan Studds, and he (Hibbert) would have been off before the 90 minutes too, seeing as he did get a yellow card in the 2nd half |
