okay, the deal is that if you are using firefox you just do a normal click instead of a right-click, and then choose "save to disk".

if I do that, then firefox starts playing the track, and doesn't ask me to save it... I've got some pop-up-blocker installed though, maybe that's why.

the pop-up blocker you have installed may well be the problem - when i do it in firefox i get a choice of saving to disk or playing the file.

Ah yes, my mistake. Embarassed Had my wisdom teeth out yesterday so I probably wasn't thinking clearly when I downloaded it. Sorry. Embarassed

On a brighter note, March is quite possibly my favourite of the singles yet. Very Happy

Sorry about your pancakes, Sparky dude. Sad

Melz.

That's probably because at some time in the past you've played a link and selected "always do this". I still get the option with Firefox.

Go into Tools/Options and select Downloads. There is a box at the bottom called File Types, remove mp3 files from here and you should then get asked again.

In spite of bravecaptain claiming that I left him on the harbour on another thread (he was late and my boat waits for no man) I've still decided to download his latest tunes. I would have done it earlier but I've only just got my lovely new shiny PC through work. Only listened to March so far, its good isn't it, starting off quiet and building into something big and beautiful.

The 'one tune a month' idea is great, this is what the internet should be used for. I've just read a book about the history of the record industry and its all quite dull apart from the beginnning and the end. At the beginning people were trying to outdo each to produce better ways of recording sound - people didn't trust the new technology, one newspaper said it would wreck marriages. Husbands would say they were staying in for a quiet night and then their wives would come home and find recordings of them getting drunk with their mates. Why the husbands would record themselves getting drunk is not mentioned. And near the end it gets interesting cos the whole industry is in chaos cos of Napster. The author makes the point that most industries would be delighted to find a way of getting their product to the customers with no distribution costs but cos the record industry is bad at adapting to change it didn't capitalise on the situation and went around threatening legal action and has been trying to catch up for the past few years.

I'm off to record myself getting drunk now.

Well, I'm touched. I finally got to hear the tune and it's the Ballad Of Martin & Corin. He's got the whole story of us meeting in there, what a lovely boy. He even got my wife's name in there and we get to hear Mary sing happy birthday to me. Between this and singing a bunch of White Album songs with Robyn Hitchcock last night, this has been the best birthday ever.
