not Carlsberg, I take it?

I reckon it was 3-2 to Chelsea in near things, but then again, it seemed illegal for Liverpool to venture anywhere near the Chelsea goal. Did no one else see Carragher pulled to the ground in the Chelsea box only for the ref to award a free-out for 'pushing'?

a free-kick to Chelsea in their own penalty area, in other words

I didn't notice it as it happened, but you could see Carragher being pulled down in the replay of it.

still annoyed by the Alonso yellow card too. It's up there with Saviola's clear hand-to-ball moment just before he scored Monaco's winner that the ref even acknowledged seeing Mad
(hmmm... is Saviola from Argentina?)

have you got a fan card, adam?

the game isn't actually sold out yet. people with fan cards who have been to 2 or more games (and credited those games on the fan card) are eligible for tickets. if you've been to 3 games, you should be able to get one...

i think the tickets left are mainly (or all) obstructed views, so you'd probably get a better view at home, but it should be some atmosphere.

I’m so sick of BBC commentators and pundits talking about the wonderful team that Napoleonic Jose Mourinho has built. What utter crap. A blind monkey could pick a winning team from a squad worth half a billion pounds. Chelsea’s success is not born of training, hard work or commitment, but of money that is probably stained with the blood of many a Russian worker and of a squad of mercenary hirelings.

i totally agree that abramovic's ill-gotten money is bad for football, but i think you have to give mourinho some credit. plenty of other clubs have spent vast amounts without getting success. chelsea have been able to do this quicker and on a larger scale, but the principle is the same.

liverpool have spent something like £40m in the last year and are struggling miles behind in the league. if we'd bought duff instead of diouf in 2002 we might have won the league. it was a blunder. it don't think it's true to say that given enough money anyone would be in the position chelsea are after one season of a new manager.

the problem is that with a great manager and limitless money, in a few years chelsea will be even more untouchable than they already are.

Especially if we get Gerrard. I feel that it would be an absolute dream team in a sense. Mind you Real Madrid spend alot of money on all the well known superstars and it hasn't worked. We buy Crespo, Drogba, Kezman etc and none have proved to be a 20+ goalscorer. What is frightening for others I would suspect is if we did have one. Just imagine........

does anyone know if the same ref from Stamford Bridge on Wednesday gets to do the return match?

thought Anders Frisk was gonna ref the 2nd Chelsea v Barca game, only for the fuss caused about all that blah blah in the first meeting

I reckon Jose will only hang around for 3 or so years and then will move on, he's already said he wants to manage Portugal one day. Then I presume they'll get Dennis Wise in as manager.

On an unrelated point, I don't reckon the PSV vs Milan tie is over yet, if I were I betting man (which I am) I'd put money on PSV turning them over in the second leg.

And lastly, didn't Matt Le Tissier score an awful lot of amazing goals, I spent a hungover Sunday watching a 'best goals from the Premiership ever' DVD and he must have scored about 170 goals from outside the box, what a player. Also that Beckham goal from the halfway line isn't the best goal ever scored in the Premiership and anyone who thinks it is is wrong.

le tiss was the nuts, wasn't he? idle, portly genius. i remember watching a compilation of his goals and one ludicrous volley reduced barry davies to gasping 'oh!' as if he had just gone off.

we shall never see the like again.

ha ha ha ha ha!

Thanks for lightening the syrup of anxiety in my what-the-hell-do-I-do-all-day-until-19:45hrs house, lomez... I needed that laugh.

God, I don't believe in you, but could you PLEASE prove your existence to me tonight by allowing your team to hammer the bollocks off the rouble whores?

Many thanks.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck - they're not going to show tonight's match on Finnish TV. Sad
I think it'll end 1-1 and Chelsea will win with the away goal rule, but...
Come on Hyypiä, come on Liverpool!

Yes! Shocked I know, it's stupid!
There's the ice hockey world championships or something going on at the moment, and some people have obviously decided that it's more important. Argh. Mad There should be laws that protect innocent Finnish citizens from something like this!
So, instead of watching the most exciting football match of the year so far, I could (but I'm certainly not going to) watch the Kazakhstan VS Switzerland (or something like that) ice hockey match! Rolling Eyes ... I don't know whether I should laugh or cry!
They'll show tomorrow's match though, but everyone knows that AC Milan will win.
