..constantly play bass guitar and another instrument (woodwind, either a bassoon or an oboe) very badly. months of practice have not borne any fruit.

the nice couple next door are days away from having a baby.

what do i do?

Shove the Bassoon in a location of restricted sunlight! And tell them to be quiet.

or

buy a noisy dog and beat them at their own game.

Buy some ear plugs and let them keep playing (assuming it's not at antisocial hours) as music is good and Bassoons are funny and therefore should be encouraged. Smile

Not all babies scream and cry. Some are actually rather quiet. As long as there is life, there is hope.

go and get their autographs.

a friend of mine at college was moaning to another friend (sure, it sounds like an urban myth already) exactly along these lines, about these blokes next door playing guitar and wailing 24 hours a day. the other mate goes round to have a laugh - turns out it was 2 of radiohead.

my worry, as casper states, is that they are genuinely talented musicians waiting for their moment.

yet at the same time, they've either been playing scales or the bass line from 'these boots are made for walkin' for SEVEN. FUCKING. MONTHS.

next door have had a bonny baby boy. everyone is well.

can everyone please stop delivering pizzas to my house. it isn't helping.
