How cool is that?!
Hopefully the transport system will get sorted now!

I got quite excited.
And then I remembered it wasn't for another 7 years, by which time I may not be living in London, or even England come to that, so I've decided to postpone getting too excited until 2011.
It is cool though, and there is the slight bonus that it will piss Chirac off, the arrogant bastard. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/thelostcavalry

I'm really pleased, I'd been saying that I wanted Paris to get it cos I'm a wanker but when I found out its going to be in London I was very happy. The European Championships will be on that summer as well, its nice to have something to look forward to isn't it. |

I don't live in London and frankly couldn't care less.
I can't believe I heard somebody on the radio this afternoon saying something like: "I hope it will be called the British Olympics because I'm not to keen on the idea that Londoners will have to pay for it all".
Well I certainly don't want to be paying for the bloody thing! Londoners probably shouldn't be either, since it will be of no long term benefit whatsoever.
There's all this talk of regeneration, it'll probably just cost a fortune and we'll end up with another Millenium Dome style fiasco that doesn't actually benefit any of the people who live in the area, just a load of rich wankers who'll buy penthouse flats.
It shouldn't take something like this to improve a transport system, it should be done anyway for the people who actually live there. They must make enough from this congestion charge to start re-investing some of it into public transport.
Sorry for the negativity, but that's what I think.
On a more positive note, it did piss the French off. That'll teach Chirac to keep his mouth shut in future.

I really didn't want us to get it 'cos I think its a waste of money and even if some of the footie will be played across the UK, it'll be the south east that gets the most benefit.... as ever!! However Chirac's attitude to Europe is almost Thatcherite in its insularity and when he spouted the crap about uk food (a small thing but he's a politician and should be above that in those circles) I just wanted Paris not to get it to piss him off. So when it came down to London or Paris then I did want the UK to get it. I'll go to some of the footie and i'll also sneak into the stadium one night and blow that torch out... |

I for one am pissed, when Manchester bid we didnt have Tony Blair going round pumping hands and stuff, and he took three days off to that too. Although we did get a velodrome, which is always handy. |

Pah!
All so negative! It'll be great - a big festival of sport with all of the world coming together in London. There'll be loads of different people from different cultures around the town and things will be extra exciting and interesting for a while, brilliant!
...And I don't mind paying for it either.
