Anyone see it on Channel 4 last night? I still love Jarvis and am still slightly scared of Jimmy Saville. The footage of Jerry Lee Lewis playing in that really crowded studio was great.

Wasn't the Jimi Hendrix bit just brilliant?

Why don't we have stars like this anymore?

I'm neither quite old enough nor from the right part of the country to have had an epiphany to Joy Division on TV at 6.30 in the evening, but I do remember seeing some second rate punk band a few years later (something in the back of my mind says anti-nowhere laegue) and getting all excited as my parents tutted and frowned at the sights and sounds.

These things change your life!

Jarvis (whom was god-like as always) was right, remember back then there were only 3 channels, and they were only on for part of the day. It's no wonder it had the power to get the kids excited.

There was fuck all music on the telly apart from TOTP and The Chart Show right up until the mid nineties really. Actually Wogan always had a band on didn't he and that was meant to be really important for chart positions. Its like football, its only recently that TV companies have woken up to that fact that people really like it so now TV shows saturation coverage and tries to use it for its own ends 'Pop Idol' etc.
