When the time comes for her to be given a footie team I propose Barnsley in honour of Sir Thomas of Boo. |

Hee hee, I was just going to suggest the same!

Barnsley may be in a bit of a trouble at the moment, but they're a great club with long traditions, and I'm sure they'll be back in top flight one day! I'm sure that it's more rewarding to follow one of these smaller clubs too - I used to be jealous for my mate who's a Man Ure fan until I realised that he's a 'glory hunter'. He never went to see their games because "he saw enough games on telly", he only ever wore his Malaysian import ManUre shirt when they had won the Premier League or the Champions League, and he stopped talking about football with me three years ago when they weren't the best team in England anymore. I would be dead chuffed if Barnsley won the bloody LDV Vans Trophy one day, but this guy didn't even celebrate their damn 'treble'.

Don't let your kids become glory hunters, Jeff - choose Barnsley.

Oh, and congratulations + happy birthday! _________________

				  congratulations jeff and co.

And naturally i third the supporting of barnsley, heck they'll play Plymouth again soon and as tickets will be far easier to get and unlike our top flight footie it won't cost yer more than yer flight ticket to get in!

Make sure you go the game in Plymouth though 'cos pasties beat pies any day of the week and Oakwell (Barnsley) is the coldest ground in Britain. |

I disagree, Boundary Park, Oldham takes that award. I remember snow in May and I left Plymouth in nothing warmer than a shirt.

Feck, it was cold and there was nowhere to hide. |

what's the difference? Meat and baked pastry wrapper...I thought they were interchangable terms...

Okay...we've been through this whole trying to support a team in the Championship...very hard to get excited about and hard to catch here in the states. I DID just learn that Direct TV is carrying a new channel that will cover the Championship. Of course, I don'thave a dish but may have to get one now.

Thanks for all the kind wishes. Mom and baby are doing great and come home tomorrow (in time to see the Chelsea -Arsenal game Sunday:) |

With all due respect Tomi, it's one thing not being a glory hunter, but do you want his child to suffer?

Well, "suffer" wouldn't be the word I'd use here, but I can see your point, Setareh. I've followed Barnsley in the Premier League, and I was at the Oakwell the day we got relegated to Division Two for the first time in about 30 years, it wasn't a happy day but I'm glad that I was there. One day we'll be back again, and it'll be just great.

What more can teams like Juventus or Real Madrid or Chelsea achieve? If they don't win the Champions League

  and

their national leagues every season, their fans are bitterly disappointed. If Barnsley win the Intergalactic Champions League in the year 2076 (and I'm still alive then) it might be the best day of my life. _________________

Could be true, however, never in my fanhood since 1990 have I ever felt that Juve won too much for me, I am always hungry for more! At the same time, when they don't win it one year I can be at ease knowing it'll probably come again soon.
