Is anyone watching the Oasis gig at Manchester on E4 now after being drunk and watching the media bollocks that is BB???? I saw Oasis twice on this tour was good to be there. But really how good are they its not like watching the stones in there prime or Led Zep do you think we are lacking in pure talent and rock and roll these days??? Our heros are they not as good as yesteryear???

I was gonna register and get a name and everything but my computer's so slow Id probably need to shave before it finished.

No I think there's plenty of talent around nowadays, the Drive By Truckers are playing soon and they are amazing, although if you dont like my morning jacket or Lynrd Skynrd they're probably not for you, but they have three guitar players and fucking rock, and their lyrics are really good too so if your feeling jaded give them a try. |

Reckon I'll check them out! I'm a bit partial to Southern Rawk (amongst other strange things) myself.

It has been well documented here and elsewhere that Oasis released one great album (Definitely maybe) and then the quality dropped off exponentially ever since. It's a shame they couldn't maintain the energy of that first album. Morning Glory is pedestrian and lacklustre by comparison and I lost interest after that.

Even the other 2 "greats" you mention went downhill. Zep called it a day before they got as bad as the Stones who are now just a Pastiche, but still they were great in their day.

Speaking of Zep, anyone heard the album Jimmy Page did with the Black Crowes? It's good stuff Chris Robinson is an adequate substitute for Percy Plant - great version of the Lemon Song on there (if you like that sort of thing).

Anyway I'd better scoot before this descends into blues rock hell and I get banned for my questionable tastes!! _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

Nah, lets discuss the finer points of Hanoi Rocks instead - at least I'm guaranteed one sensible reply!

Hanoi Rocks have a brand new album out, it's called
  Another Hostile Takeover
  .

It's got quite mixed reviews so far in the music magazines that I've read, but I haven't heard any of the songs yet so I can't say if it's any good or not. Probably not, 'cos they haven't played the singles on radio or anything.

The previous album was pretty good in my opinion, even though it missed the "vibe" of the old Hanoi albums that made them so good... hopefully some of it is back on the new album. _________________

Actually I think I will!

Did you know there appears to be a connection between them and the Boos?

Now, what is it?

Erm, you're sort of right I hadn't actually thought of that! You've done your research!!!

For the record Interior Lulu is one of the worst songs they've done , which ties in with Martin's opinion of It's Lulu.

Anyway....

The extremely tenuous connection I was referring to was a man named Mike Hunter. He was an engineer at Parr Street studios in Liverpool and apparently worked with The Boos in September 1998. He has also engineered and mixed Marillion and is set to produce their new album.

OK, I'll get my Anorak......
