Just got the new album today. I like it alot. It seems to have an air of sadness and finality(is that a word?) about it though. Perhaps the last we will hear from them. I don;t know.
Can't stand me now - song of the year me reckons _________________ Martin O'Neill's Claret And Blue Army |

Don't get me started on this one, a pantomine of over indulged average indie hype........................ |

I quite like the album too Hew. Definitely their last unless Pete Doherty gets himself together. (Place your bets now!) I read somewhere that Carl Barat doesn't want to carry on with The Libertines unless Pete is part of it, or something like that. Although seeing this week's NME with Barat and Morrissey on the front was interesting. (I won't buy it though)
New Easyworld single's really nice aswell.

Just bought the album, it seems alright to me. They've not gone off in a bizarre rap direction and blokes talking in Cockney accents quickly over loud guitars does it for me for me right now. Not sure about having 17 tracks on the album though, it gets a bit samey after a bit.
I have to admit that if there wasn't all the hype about the band (drugs, arrests, rehab etc) I probably wouldn't be interested in them. I think its impossible to disassociate music from the image of any band. Or maybe I'm just very shallow. |

Sorry to bring the L word back to the front end of the forum, but I just bought the new Half Man Half Biscuit album and... well... see for yourself. Made me cry with laughter.
"I could have put my head in a bucket full of porridge
And moaned about the hospital parking scheme
I would have saved fourteen pounds
That I just splashed out on your second album
'Cause that's what it's akin to
And furthermore
You've got a shit arm! And that's a bad tattoo."
I take it that's a bad review then? And in true Biscuit style they finish the song with a footie chant: "Busk when it's Christmas! You only busk when it's Christmas!" _________________ "It's too beautiful to stay inside..." |

The HMHB album is ace, it's where I pinched my signature from!
My faves are Joy Division Oven Gloves and Surging Out Of Convalescence.
Top stuff! _________________ We would like to announce that due to cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..... |

Corgi Registered Friends and Shit Arm Bad Tattoo got the most laughs from me, although I agree Joy Division Oven Gloves is fantastic.
Ever hear Vatican Broadside? 30 seconds of genius.

It's not as good as "The Referee's Alphabet" though!

I think two of their funniest of all time are 24 Hour Garage People and Breaking News.

I actually registered on the libertines forums as ShitArmBadTattoo to go trolling but couldn't come up with anything in the end.
Sad, I know!
