Oh yeah man.

From Hell - Alan Moore knows the score
The Filth (absolutely mental with some of the best psychedelic artwork)
Jimmy Corrigan
Palestine by Joe Sacco is the single best representation of what its like over there Ive read, its a popular book in the West Bank and if you ever want to curt through th epolitics to the day to day reality thats where to start.
MAUS is fucking amazing, probably the best most affecting use of comic art ive read.

Superman Red Sun is cool its superman if he was raised on a stalinist collective farm

Preacher series
The Ultimates
1602 by Neil Gaimen
Hellblazer
The Authority

but my all time favourite is

Peanuts - funny and universally true, Charles Schultz was a genius.

i remember my brother n' law was a big fan of them back in the day (late 80's - early 90's). i did'nt even know they still made comics of bloom county, apparently they still do. Confused.......i guess they're just not as mainstream as they used to be or atleast it seems that way. Rolling Eyes.......i don't remember too much about 'em, but i do remember the "penguin" -(sorry, don't remember his name) being the funniest or one of the funniest of them. Smile

i'm no expert on this sort of thing, but i started on akira recently and found it completely engrossing... highly recommended (despite obscene retail price)

- though having said that it's been well and truly booted out of the picture by Danielewski's novel, house of leaves, which is currently confusing the hell out of me..
