Palestine by Joe Sacco is the single best representation of what its like over there Ive read, its a popular book in the West Bank and if you ever want to curt through th epolitics to the day to day reality thats where to start.
MAUS is fucking amazing, probably the best most affecting use of comic art ive read.

i'm no expert on this sort of thing, but i started on akira recently and found it completely engrossing... highly recommended (despite obscene retail price)
- though having said that it's been well and truly booted out of the picture by Danielewski's novel, house of leaves, which is currently confusing the hell out of me.. |
