Are The Twang any good? I haven't heard them but I read a cringe-inducing "they're from north of Watford therefore they be the voice of the people, be authentic and have 'soul'" article in NME about them which put me off straight away. I'm not an open minded man.

They have some decent tunes, but yeah, they have been typecast to fill a Happy Mondays Stone Rose Oasis sized hole, which makes it hard to like them.

Which are better, daytime cookery shows or antiques related shows?

Daytime cookery, not that I really know but antiques are boooooring, sometimes good to have if it's a useful/nice thing but a show on them...zzzzzzz.

Spring or summer?

Love & Peace

Spring. Summer is too hot, Winter is too cold, Autumn is depressing but spring...well, its just right isn't it.

Would you rather have a time travel machine or a flying car?

Summer is good for ice cream, but i'm winter/spring - more to do, more bands, footie and better for clobber 'cos yer can wear jackets and knitwear!

The Twang - they came across as crap in that interview and i'd summarise them as follows having seen them at the Louis on Tuesday...

Funny how throw away interviews can put you off bands. In reading some with the Twang the cynic in me wondered how real they were, how much was pretend and whether they were actually more Bournville than Birmingham. But I'd got my tickets for the Louis by then and, besides, I suspect the painfully clichéd interview was taken in that direction by an easily excitable journalist, the kind you suspect may have done a PHD on football hooliganism in a bid to bring other peoples thrills into their sterile life, the type with whom a visit to a social club gives them a rare chance to mix with people for whom a tattoo isn't a fashion statement rather than just being somewhere to go for a cheap pint.

So ignoring all of that its sound to see them away from bad media types. Their funny, have good banter with the crowd and as debut charters and soon to be nme cover stars, their as on top form as a band in their position should be. And its refreshing to see, there's no pseudo indie cool unenthusiastic stance just a band celebrating 'avin it. As for the music, well they'll get chucked in with the new rave thing but they'll soar to heights that few others in that bracket will. Its basically Campbag Velocet with proper lyrics crossed with Happy Mondays, Simple Minds and a Spanish seaside resort. Mostly, incredibly, it works (spectacularly so on Either Way and Wide Awake) and by the end even the most miserable amongst an unusually eclectic crowd are loving it.

Time travel machine 'cos someone would only go into the back of my flying car!

Picture discs or coloured vinyl?

coloured vinyl because it's very, very cool.
also, why not have a DeLorean, back from the future, and have a time machine AND a flying car.

i believe 2007 is the year that rave culture is coming back.

should i invest in some glowsticks?

I like Happy Mondays and Simple Minds and Spanish seaside resorts so maybe they're the band for me. I'm going to see the Happy Mondays later this year, I think I've unwittingly given up on modern music and am just going to see the bands I liked 10 years ago, the next four concerts I'm going to are Manic Street Preachers, Wu-Tang Clan, Happy Mondays and Sonic Youth. I went to see My Chemical Romance (who were shockingly bad for most of the gig but full of punky goodness near the end) on Friday and felt very old indeed. Me and my friends were the only people in the building old enough to buy a lottery ticket, never mind an alcoholic drink.

Flares.

Will the Simpsons movie be any good?

Yes. And no. Er, that was decisive.

No. Its a very overrated album for a start, it looks a largely shite selection of bands and no one will ever be able to cover she's leaving home with as much charm and heart as billy bragg did on that nme one.

william shakesphere or jackie collins?

In John Mc's indie-centric view, rather predictably, its 1994: Parklife! Definitely Maybe! Dog Man Star! John Scales! Protection! Whatever!Snivilisation! Select magazine being the best music magazine ever! The Holy Bible! Phil Babb! Dummy! Music For The Jilted Generation! Bug Powder Dust! Neil "Razor" Ruddock! Stay Together!

And all the US could come up with was Ill Communication, Illmatic, Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, Seether and Whoomp! (There It Is). Losers! Oh, and Loser too.
