Parry hotter is for kids. Adults shouldn't talk about it. Adults shouldn't analyse kids books. Kids shouldn't analyse adult books. Kids shouldn't read books, otherwise adults will fill them full of shit.
In fact, we shouldn't analyse anything.
Sorry, Im hammered.
Well done BC

Harry who?
I'd rather read the back of a Sainsbury's 12 pack of "Honey" coloured toilet tissue.
If the whole world is desparate to read something, I'll write a book - and I ain't no author. _________________ Find a job you like, and add five days to every week. |

The greatest and most imaginative kids books are the Moomin series (Finn Family Moomintroll being the most widely known) by (and maybe Tommy BOO can elucidate further) the Finnish author Tove Jansson. The first was written in the 1940's and they are filled with wonderful creatures, magic hats, comets, lighthouses, abandoned theatres, islands, invisible beings and the writers illustrations and maps are just joyous.
I've just rescued them from my parents attic and am going to start reading them to my boy at the next available opportunity for they truly grabbed my imagination as a kid and I trust it will do the same for him.
There was also a TV cartoon .... it was shite. For the printed word is always superior to celluloid. |

No Logo is a decent book, well-intentioned and for the most part well thought-out. I can think of worse uses for my 17 USD than helping to finance Naomi Klein's next book.
as far as kids books go, HP seems to be ok. its at least socially progressive and enjoyable reading material for young men and women.
maybe its not as good as the phantom tollbooth, or the Narnia books, or to kill a mockingbird, or the Witches or whatever, but i can't say for certain as i'm no longer a 12 year old boy.
by the way, "socially progressive and enjoyable reading material for young men and women" is i think what i'll have to title the book i'll never get around to writing. _________________ "Even I know the solution: love, music, wine and revolution..." (magnetic fields)

Mockingbird is not a children's book as such, just a story told through the eyes of a child. L&P _________________ Man is the only animal clever enough to build The Empire State Building and stupid enough to jump from it. |

The Moomin series was ace indeed! I have three old Moomin cartoon books somewhere, I spent hours and hours reading them when I was a kid.
I have to disagree with you about the Moomin TV series though, I think it's pretty good. Totally different than the original cartoons though, but still alright. _________________

Moomin RAWKS! Got a free trip 'round the museum in Tampere 'cos i got sheperded into it with a lot of Japanese women (don't ask, i don't quite know how, as you can probably guess i don't look like a japanese woman)
Got some fab box of sweets with free moomin minature and a cuddly moomin too - don't normally fall for such tat but like kiss me quick hats in blackpool, sometimes ya just got to do it. books are ace. by the look of it. the couple i have are still in finish which i don't understand. though the pictures give me something to work on....
Oh an talking of museums and Tampere, also went to the Lenin one there, its excellent - really interesting and i'm sure the bearded one laughs at the irony of all the Lenin merchandise for sale in the shop!

tampere is a fine city indeed, not too big but not too small... i like it. what are you going to do there?
if you're coming any more south, we could arrange a meeting or something... i live near turku... i might be too busy though _________________
