Where did you get your copy of Advertisements For Myself? Yeah, I know this is one of the questions you see on those little leaflets that sometimes come with the albums you buy... This time there will be no prizes, I just decided to make another poll. Again. _________________

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that.
I never entered the competition so I didn't get the album either. Now you have a real reason to hate me.
Anyway, I bought my copy of AFM at the Bravecaptain gig in London. It was good because I also got Martin's autograph on it. And of course the show was great too. _________________

I was the first one who voted, I voted bought in some record store, but only after I told them to get it in. L&P _________________ Man is the only animal clever enough to build The Empire State Building and stupid enough to jump from it. |

My brother bought my copy while in London. Brought it back with him to L.A. a few months later. Not for the poll, but I will note as an aside that I don't like ADVERTISEMENTS nearly as much as the previous Brave Captain discs. For some reason, I kind of feel that it is too long and there are too many "safe" songs. |

What do you mean by safe songs?
I think that AFM is the best Bravecaptain album so far, definitely one of the best records released during the last couple of years.
By the way BC, why don't you register on the messageboard? _________________

The songs on AFM are all good... nice melodies. But, I guess I had just hoped for more. GIANT STEPS was an amalgamation of all these different influences, but totally unqie, in its own way... WAKE UP! was just a lighter version of GIANT STEPS. C'MON KIDS was this outrageous tapestry of noisy guitars... phenomenal, experimental, just beautiful... KINGSIZE had great melodies and Pop songs, but the arrangements were just average, safe. FINGERTIP was something entirely new... percussive electronic sounds, incredible basslines, incredible lyrics, like GIANTS STEPS, Vol. 1 & 2 showcased a lot of influences, but was totally original. AFM just sounds like a collection of FINGERTIP leftovers. Again, all good melodies, but nothing stnads out to me as being anything that was charting new territory that Martin hadn't already been. I like AFM, in the same way I like KINGSIZE.
Also, I thought I was registered, but apparently not.
