Fave song on Giant Steps - Barney (and me)
Fave song on Wake Up! - Martin Doom! It's quarter past two
Fave song on C'Mon Kids - Ride The Tiger
Fave song on Kinkgsize - Kingsize
Fave song on Fingertip Sessions I - Third Unattended Bag On The Right
Fave song on Go With Yourself - Hermit Vs The World - would love to hear elektroreworking of this!
Fave song on AFM - Rod's Got One
New Strokes album is fucking boring - and I really loved the last one (I know, they sound the same)
The Coral are totally overrated. Going to see BRMC in Nov and couldn't care less, Music is both my saviour and my greatest depression. I have three new albums but I'm bored of them already.
Arab Strap on Saturday, gonna see if I can drink myself to death in the duration of one gig.
Pissed off I couldn't get to Leicester, sounds like no one else on this board did either. now I have the joy of travelling to Parsons Cross every Thursday night for the next three months instead of playing snooker and drinking. What a fucking shit hole life.
Currently listening to: Step In The Left Direction, Unkle, SFA, Stevie Wonder. Currently reading Stone Of Farewell, currently watching 28 Days Later and Bourne ID - aren't DVD copiers the bollocks?
Just heard Bill Hicks for the first time in 27 years. Laughed my fucking head off.
Listen up, stop suing people for your kids stupidity. Guns are for killing, games are for playing, the internet is for downloading illegal things, blank CD's are for Ripping Albums, blank DVD's are for Ripping off films. The artists don't deserve it, the companies that contract them do, but the artists need to be heard so don't cut your nose of to spite your face.

The way I am at the minute I'd probably listen to it for 3 days then be searching for something else.
Seriously now though, and without ranting, how many recent albums can you listen to over and over and over without being bored of within a few days? For me there hasn't been a single album out this year - NINE MONTHS, that I can listen to all the time.
Maybe I'm just getting old and jaded with it, or maybe I'm just desparately waiting for Martin to come and save me - again.
Kinkster
p.s. OK I give in, which m83 album are you listening to? _________________ "fashioned by the blade of a world that doesn't care,

the new one. dead something and something something it's called. you're right about the toss we get fed these days. nme and mtv should take equal amounts of the blame for encouraging only the dullest of new acts. same shit different day with them guys. you gotta work hard to find something that inspires you. it's like digging for gold. there are few albums that excite me. i resort to making mix cds of the odd magical track i've picked up here and there. get mow the lawn by gorky's if you haven't got that. tracks one and three off the new belle and sebastian. the outkast single. anything by zabrinski, but preferably their last ep and lp. join the boobytrap singles club if you're not in that - them guys have got the right idea. see the super furries live later this month. there's a new track by snow patrol called chocolate that is just beautiful. stir in a bit of public enemy, lambchop, david bowie and squarepusher and yer laughing! or judging by your last email maybe you won't! |

yeah, i'm a bit like that at the moment kinkster,
over the last few months, i've got Grandaddy, Radiohead, SFA, Gorkys, BRMC, The Thrills, The Coral, Elbow, Spiritualized as well as anything else i can't remember, and none of them i've listened to as much as i did 'Kingsize' when i first got it for example.
listening to music seems a chore at the moment, which is awful as it's the only thing i've got!!.
Even albums i love i seem to stop half way through or fall asleep to...
I thing is I live on looking forward to things, but get disappointed when it happens, if that makes sense.

Hey kinkster,
so this year's been a bit of a blow out so far (hmm, like the last year, the one before that, etc - god, must be getting old), but that's no matter -there's a couple of hundred years of ace music out there to discover and enjoy instead.
This year, the gems i've really got into and would reccomend to anyone include:
Neil Young - On the Beach
Zombies - Odyssey & Oracel (reccommended by Gruf SFA in a Guardian article)
Badfinger - Best of (normally avoid 'em, but so many classics wouldn't know where to start)
Pretty Things - SF Sorrow
Beach Boys stuff from the 70s
early-mid period pet shop boys
can't think what else now, but after martin's reccomendations on the Giant Steps site, I've been trying to find os mutantes everywhere, with no luck whatsoever

Any chance you could give us a general idea of when we could expect the new BC material?
Oh yes, while I'm at it, Simple Kid's debut album is EXCELLENT.
