Apart from that one from Fight Club I hadn't heard anything by the Pixies up until the past couple of months. But "Monkeys Gone To Heaven" was on the TV this morning and its been in my head all day. Might buy that compilation thats just come out.

Did they split up in 1992? I don't remember anyone being that arsed about it at the time. In fact the only thing I can remember about them in the press was Danni Minogue reviewing one of their singles for Smash Hits and saying it was "a crock of shit". That stuck in my mind as its not often you hear a Minogue sister swearing.

it was big news when the pixies split. i remember surfa rosa coming out, i had never heard anything like it. saw 'em play a few times and supported them at crystal palace in 91. the first three albums are fucking genius, the rest is fucking crap, 'cept maybe 'planet of sound'.
